Reporting to the Provost & Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Office of Faculty Affairs at Georgia State University serves as a central pillar of academic excellence, advancing a distinguished and dynamic faculty community. The Office provides visionary leadership and strategic oversight for the recruitment, appointment, retention and advancement of faculty, ensuring that scholars are fully supported in achieving the highest levels of professional accomplishment. Its portfolio includes the development and stewardship of faculty policies and procedures governing appointments, leaves, promotion, and tenure, as well as the oversight of prestigious university-wide faculty awards and honors. In addition, the office designs and delivers high-impact faculty development programs, workshops, and fellowships in collaboration with the nationally recognized Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and cultivates leadership capacity among administrators, department chairs, and faculty. It also facilitates recognition through the University System of Georgia, champions mentoring and faculty well-being initiatives, and partners with campus leadership to implement strategic improvements informed by the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) faculty satisfaction survey, collectively reinforcing the university’s reputation for academic distinction and innovation.
