About The Position

The Manager, Facilities Management, leads the oversight and coordination of facility operations, ensuring optimal performance of mechanical systems, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives. This role directs associate teams, manages budgets, and enforces environmental compliance while maintaining high standards of safety and operational continuity. By collaborating with stakeholders and driving continuous improvement, the manager ensures timely project execution and cost-effective facility enhancements. This position demands strong leadership, communication, and project management skills to support business objectives and uphold company values in a dynamic environment. The Energy and Sustainability Team supports Walmart Corporate Real Estate by managing facility operations and ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards. The team specializes in energy analysis, building performance optimization, and executing sustainability masterplans. Members apply technical expertise in diagnostics, programming, and process improvement while collaborating with stakeholders to maintain secure, efficient environments. Their efforts align with Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and responsible resource management, promoting accountability and integrity in all activities. The team drives continuous improvement through effective communication, project management, and adherence to sustainability standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of experience in energy engineering, HVAC systems, and building operations
  • Expertise with BAS systems and HVAC equipment (AHUs, chillers, boilers, pumps)
  • Experience with energy analysis tools and data analysis tools
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, commissioning practice, sustainability frameworks
  • Experience in sustainability projects and initiatives in campus environments
  • Skilled in managing budgets, financial planning, and capital expenditure related to facility operations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage stakeholders and support continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field and 2 years’ experience in facilities management, construction management, engineering, or related area OR 4 years’ experience in facilities management, construction management, engineering, or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • PE (EIT and working towards PE acceptable), CEM (EMIT and working towards PE acceptable), LEED AP, IAC/ITAC graduates or other energy related certifications
  • Experience with ESPM, LEED, Building Performance Standards
  • Familiarity with digital twin platforms, MBCx tools, and BAS/BMS expertise
  • Building controls or related area
  • External work experience supervising maintenance personnel in an optical, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of the campus Sustainability Masterplan initiatives
  • Track, analyze, and report energy, water, and carbon performance metrics
  • Assist in identifying and quantifying Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs)
  • Support Building Performance Standards (BPS) compliance and reporting
  • Assist with troubleshooting HVAC performance issues across campus buildings
  • Review BAS/SCADA trends (CHW, HHW, air systems) to identify inefficiencies
  • Support resolution of hot/cold calls through data-driven diagnostics
  • Coordinate with Facilities, contractors, and commissioning agents
  • Assist in Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx) activities using platforms such as IES or equivalent
  • Support functional testing, issue tracking, and corrective action verification
  • Maintain commissioning documentation for LEED and internal standards
