Manager, Fabrication (VAS) - Flower Mound, TX
About The Position
This role is responsible for overseeing fabrication and quality control, monitoring progress, and ensuring production deadlines are met. The Manager, Fabrication will direct fabrication operations to consistently meet production and budgetary goals, ensuring production schedules and quality standards are maintained. This includes determining equipment availability and capabilities to efficiently schedule and coordinate fabrication orders to meet customer expectations, and coordinating shop activities with sales. The role also involves instructing and monitoring staff on safety issues, ensuring a safe workplace compliant with OSHA regulations and fire codes, making requests for equipment repairs and purchases, managing inventory loss (scrap), and monitoring rebar inventory.
Requirements
- Candidates must be within a comfortable driving distance of a local facility.
- Leads and supports production teams through coaching and day‑to‑day problem solving.
- Improves how work gets done using basic Lean practices (5S, standard work, better flow).
- Communicates clearly across shifts and with partner teams.
- Comfortable using computers for tracking and reporting (Excel and Microsoft tools).
- Brings a strong safety‑first mindset in a hands‑on fabrication or shop environment.
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline.
- Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field.
- May require certification.
- Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Directs fabrication operations so that production and budgetary goals are consistently met.
- Oversees and monitors the operations for the purpose of ensuring that production schedules are met and quality standards are maintained.
- Determines equipment availability and capabilities to efficiently schedule, coordinate, and move fabrication orders through the facility to meet customer expectations.
- Coordinates shop activities with sales.
- Instructs and monitors staff regarding safety issues.
- Ensures that the workplace is safe and in compliance with OSHA regulations and applicable fire codes.
- Makes requests for repairs and equipment as needed for shop.
- Ensures accurate and safe loading and unloading of trucks.
- Manages inventory loss (scrap) through the production process.
- Monitors rebar inventory.
