About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Manager - Extractable/Leachables to join their Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals team in Whitehouse, NJ. This role offers an opportunity for career growth in pharmaceutical analytic testing. The Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals team provides regulatory guidance and supply chain assurance for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical outsourcing. Intertek aims to reduce risk for consumers, brands, and organizations across all sectors and industries, functioning as a Total Quality Assurance Provider.

Requirements

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry with a focus on mass spectrometry.
  • 10 years minimum technical experience, including education, in extractable and leachable industries.
  • Areas of expertise: Pharmaceutical packaging extractable and leachables, Biocompatibility, Chemical Characterization (including biodegradable), PERLs (Process equipment related leachables), Single use systems.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and influencing a matrix organization, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Experience in working on novel projects and proven ability to bring ideas from conception to completion.
  • Experience in showing commercial sense, contract structuring and negotiation, and business strategy development.
  • Proven experience in helping other people turn their ideas into reality; work with multiple fluid team structures which requires trust and integrity.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and thriving on change.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and launches complex and strategic initiatives specific to extractable and leachable technical innovation.
  • Retains and expands stakeholder relationships for one or more divisions.
  • Solicits new business from prospective customers.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of E&L departmental laboratory operations to maximize quality, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, project timelines, productivity, and profitability.
  • Supports development of proposals, protocols, and reports for projects.
  • Supports cGMP compliance activities such as timely calibration of equipment and personnel training.
  • Performs review of analytical data and trainings.
  • Participates in tactical and strategic teams to meet corporate objectives.
  • Has new business development responsibilities for existing departmental client base.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned.
  • Supports the implementation and coordination of E&L within global pharmaceutical business line development initiatives.
  • Recommends possible acquisition targets.
  • Collaborates with Sites, Countries, and Business Lines to develop business strategy and plans.
  • Sets strategic objectives for sites/countries including growth rates, facility expansion, acquisition goals, and margin and profitability benchmarks.
  • Performs team technical assessment and evaluations and improves technical competence of staff.
  • Develops necessary business processes and systems to enable pioneering, high-impact initiatives.
  • Sets framework and recommends resources to sites/countries needed to implement strategies.
  • Establishes and supports Global Key Account initiatives and evaluates and supports project and program objectives.
  • Maintains close communications with the relevant Country Managing Director and/or Country Business Line Manager and Site Leadership.
  • Uses personal and professional network to link ideas to people who might not otherwise interact across Intertek and/or its relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with all stakeholders to define and execute the initiative.
  • Acts as a champion and change agent in leading organizational changes required to create and sustain new capabilities and associated commercial propositions.
