About The Position

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Events Division seeks an entrepreneurial event manager to join our team. Producing hundreds of meetings and events each year, the U.S. Chamber convenes corporate executives, small business owners, government officials, and international dignitaries to create meaningful and productive dialogue in support business’s vital role in a healthy democracy. The manager will lead the planning and execution of a dedicated portfolio of events, ranging from intimate salon dinners to large scale summits and conferences, all in support of the Chamber’s mission and internal client goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant media or corporate events, or hospitality experience.
  • Full events life cycle program and project management experience strongly preferred.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills and the ability to forge strong, trusting relationships with clients.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and superior organization.
  • Ability to manage complex and fast-changing portfolios of work and prioritize effectively in response.
  • Creative and strategic thinking with emphasis on customer service to meet clients’ objectives.
  • Strong negotiating, contracting, and budgeting skills.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a track record showing initiative and ownership of work.
  • Strong proficiency with collaboration tools like SharePoint and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and implement a wide range of Chamber programs, from virtual broadcasts to multiday CEO retreats to thought leadership tentpoles to executive meetings.
  • Manage project-wide deliverables through cross-functional collaboration, day-to-day communications across internal stakeholders, and day of execution.
  • For in-person events, oversee the logistics of vendor and venue management and setup.
  • For virtual events, lead the development of the agenda and run of show in accordance with broadcast best practices.
  • Collaborate with program producers, creative directors and AV engineers on show logistics and production and taking the lead on operationalizing and delivery of vision.
  • Support audience communications and external marketing and promotion, ensuring audience experience are prioritized in the development of the event.
  • Partner with sales and client managers to deliver outsize value to our sponsors and event partners through creating opportunities for sponsor activations and connections with our audience.
  • Manage and collaborate with vendors, venues, and production partners by setting a clear vision for the event, and communicating expectations around budget, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Partner with internal clients and colleagues to encourage innovation, share best practices, deliver success and ROI, and build new opportunities to showcase the Chamber’s best-in-class convening power.
  • Ensure all project teams utilize, maintain and continually improve the Chamber’s knowledge management systems and protocols.
  • Contribute to the growth of program content through consulting on program format, multimedia extensions, and topic and speaker identification.
  • Meet or exceed budgetary goals through strong negotiations and creative and cost-effective solutions.
