About The Position

This position is a key member of the Dexterra Group business and reports directly to the Operations Team Lead. The Manager Estimation/Pricing leads a team environment that develops estimates for various projects throughout Canada for the Integrated Facilities support team. They work closely with Trade specific leads to price reactive, project and Capex replacement projects. This position works with key individuals on both the client and operations group. The Manager Estimation/Pricing is responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates, including labour, materials, transportation, and 3rd party subcontracting. The Manager Estimation/Pricing also assists with our historical cost analysis, establishing unit rates, risk management and other related activities. Estimating accuracy is critical to the profitability of the business, as under-estimates may cause significant financial losses and over-estimates may result in the inability to win contracts.

Requirements

Strong communication and leadership skills demonstrated in a progressive advancement in career responsibility and risk management
Technical training in construction or equivalent combination of technical training and estimating experience.
Strong Office Suite skills especially spreadsheets and word processing software.
Previous work experience in a small works or institutional environment
Ability to read and interpret building specifications and blueprints.
Mathematical skills and analytical skills.
Ability to use cost-estimating software to prepare cost quotes and bids.
Ability to demonstrate organizational, time-management and decision-making skills.
Ability to assume responsibility and to lead and communicate effectively with others, have strong interpersonal skills and be self-motivated.
Ability to manage a fluctuating workload and set priorities to meet deadlines.

Relevant post-secondary education preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead a diverse group of pricing agents to effectively price work in various markets
Collaborate with Operations, and partners to support pricing strategy
Perform post-bid and job cost analysis to drive continuous improvement
Support presentations and proposal development as needed
Review drawings, specifications, and attend pre-bid meetings to define scope
Ability to price out Mechanical/Plumbing Small Works quotes
Develop and validate cost estimates, including risks, contingencies, and indirect costs
Contribute to improving estimating tools, models, and processes
