Requirements

Legally authorized to work in the US
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Chemistry, or related Science degree or equivalent experience
10+ years of environmental, health, and safety experience
5+ years of direct enforcement experience with regulators
Proven leadership and management skills
Experience with Federal and State environmental regulations

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary environmental team, fostering professional development and departmental effectiveness.
Oversee environmental compliance programs across air, water, waste, wetlands, and remediation to meet regulatory and company standards.
Manage departmental budgets (OPEX/CAPEX) and ensure alignment with operational and environmental goals.
Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders regarding environmental issues and enforcement actions.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve the refinery’s Environmental Management Systems and compliance strategies.
Review and influence proposed environmental regulations, forecasting operational impacts and advising senior leadership on cost-effective compliance solutions.
Support environmental aspects of capital projects, including permitting and integration with engineering and project teams.
Ensure accurate reporting, recordkeeping, and timely implementation of corrective actions to maintain or improve compliance.
