POSITION SUMMARY: The L&S Environmental Manager leads the West and Southeast Field Environmental Compliance team, reporting to the L&S Environmental Director. In this highly visible role, this position will coach and develop nine (9) Field Environmental Specialists who drive compliance across L&S facilities in 18 states. This position will set direction and remove barriers for the team, providing technical leadership across air, water, SPCC, and waste programs, while strengthening and advancing L&S Environmental programs, processes, and systems in partnership with the Environmental Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Health, Environmental, Safety, Engineering, or related field, or advanced degree
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience
  • Valid Driver's License is required

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical leadership, training, coaching, and career development for nine (9) direct report Environmental Specialists/Engineers—building a high-performing, collaborative team that consistently delivers compliance.
  • Supports direct reports in environmental permitting and compliance for terminals, pipeline, transport, and co-located assets located across multiple states.
  • Reviews agency submittals for accuracy, completeness, and risk prior to Responsible Official signature.
  • Partners with the Environmental Leadership Team to shape goals and strategies for the Environmental group in alignment with the L&S Strategic Plan.
  • Co-owns and continually improves L&S Environmental programs, processes, and systems in collaboration with the Environmental Leadership Team.
  • Drives the auditing program by reviewing Collaborative and Self-Audit protocols, developing findings and recommendations, and tracking corrective actions through closure.
  • Interacts with regulatory agencies for permitting or compliance matters.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders (Operations, Maintenance and Reliability, Law, Governmental Affairs), develops compliance strategies for emerging environmental regulations, permitting activities and resolving compliance issues as well as identifies and prioritize capital improvements needed to achieve, restore, or enhance compliance.
  • Supports business development initiatives, including purchase/sale activities and growth projects at existing facilities.
  • Communicate environmental issues, risks, and key initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Responds to environmental emergencies as necessary and may serve as the Environmental Unit Leader; direct team support for response activities, including agency notifications and field support assessments.
  • Leads and supports investigations into environmental incidents and compliance issues, helping identify root causes and drive effective corrective actions.
