Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 25 years of environmental management experience OR Associate degree and 20 years of environmental management experience OR Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline (such as Environmental, Civil, or Chemical) or a related natural science (such as biology, chemistry or environmental science) or mathematics and 10 years of experience in environmental management
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, and incident protocols
  • Working knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ability to lead and collaborate effectively
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Commitment to safety and hazard recognition
  • Goal-oriented and self-motivated

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with environmental regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, State/Federal, NEPA, etc.).
  • Experience working in an industrial facility and ability to manage a dynamic operation and environmental regulatory setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with supervising staff of varying experience and disciplines.
  • Project Management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, manage, and direct environmental programs and systems for the assigned site.
  • Establish and improve site environmental programs aligned with strategic goals.
  • Lead regulatory compliance efforts across air, water, waste, wildlife, and reporting systems.
  • Provide resources and guidance to environmental professionals as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Develop future leaders using company leadership tools and make informed decisions with broad organizational impact.
  • Serve as the site’s environmental leader and representative for ISO 14001 systems.
  • Report compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives aligned with ICMM SD Principles.
  • Investigate and document environmental incidents.
  • Manage environmental budgets and represent the site in industry forums.
  • Champion safety and environmental practices through active participation and coaching.
