About The Position

Responsible for managing the daily operations and supervision of staff for the Environmental Services Department for a healthcare facility. Establishes cooperative working relationships with staff, maintains confidentiality of information regarding clients, families, and healthcare personnel of the internal organization. This position is primarily scheduled during daytime hours; however, occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required to meet operational needs and respond to departmental priorities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning principles, equipment operation, supply needs, chemical usage, employee development principles and leadership skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Driver's license, meeting all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers is required (depending on department).

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations and supervision of staff for the Environmental Services Department.
  • Establish cooperative working relationships with staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding clients, families, and healthcare personnel.
  • Serve as a mentor and trainer to new employees.
  • Apply principles of personnel administration and supervision of employees.
  • Interviewing, hiring, evaluations, employee relations, terminations, staff schedules, and timecard approval (depending on location).
  • Develop policies, processes, and quality control systems for training of housekeeping activities (disinfection, cleaning, sterilization, waste management, etc.) to ensure a clean and safe healthcare environment.
  • Ensure staff is properly trained to perform their jobs and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor the housekeeping department to ensure compliance with all healthcare regulatory agency codes.
  • Perform inspections on staff and discharge rooms.
  • Monitor laundry services to ensure compliance with all state and local guidelines and abide by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards (depending on location).
  • Direct daily laundry service activities to include receiving, washing, drying, folding and delivery of laundry to various locations.
  • Perform administrative tasks for ordering supplies and equipment, and maintaining inventory.
  • Assist with developing and managing the budget for housekeeping function in a healthcare organization.
  • Attend leadership and other managerial meetings as scheduled.
