About The Position

The Environmental, Health, Safety, & Security (EHS&S) Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS&S programs. The position ensures full compliance with corporate policies and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a safe work environment and minimizing risk to employees, property, and the surrounding community. This position works out of our Sturgis, MI location in the Abbott Nutrition division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (with preference for Environmental, Occupational Health, Safety, or related field)
  • 5–7 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) roles
  • Strong knowledge of applicable EHS regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing EHS programs and ensuring plant-wide compliance
  • Ability to interact effectively with regulatory agencies, corporate leadership, and employees at all levels
  • Experience managing budgets related to EHS and security functions
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage plant-wide Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) programs in alignment with corporate, divisional, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Corporate, Federal, State, and local EHS laws and regulations
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and maintain strong, cooperative relationships
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to management and staff on EHS&S matters
  • Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment for employees and safeguard the surrounding community and environment
  • Develop and deliver high-quality EHS&S training programs for employees at all levels
  • Conduct audits of EHS&S programs, identify improvement areas, and ensure timely corrective actions
  • Evaluate new equipment, materials, chemicals, processes, and procedures for EHS&S compliance
  • Oversee and coordinate emergency response activities for the site
  • Manage EHS&S and security budgets and ensure effective resource allocation
  • Supervise and support a team of 11 employees
  • Accountable for meeting compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
