About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs that ensure compliance with applicable regulations while promoting a culture of safety throughout the manufacturing organization. This role partners with operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to minimize workplace risks, prevent injuries, protect the environment, and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Occupational Safety, related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5–8+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable environmental regulations.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety audits.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and workplace assessments.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and environmental events to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage workers' compensation and return-to-work programs as applicable.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness activities.
  • Maintain safety records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, reporting requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Manage waste handling, storage, recycling, and disposal programs.
  • Monitor air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous materials programs as required.
  • Coordinate environmental inspections and regulatory agency interactions.
  • Lead sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, supervisors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and awareness programs.
  • Support behavioral-based safety initiatives and employee safety committees.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors and managers on EHS matters.
  • Establish EHS performance metrics and report results to leadership.
  • Analyze trends and develop strategies to reduce incidents and environmental impacts.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on risk reduction and operational excellence.
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and process changes by evaluating EHS risks.
  • Serve as the primary EHS subject matter expert for the facility.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, human resources, and leadership teams to achieve EHS objectives.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory agencies, auditors, consultants, and external stakeholders.
  • May supervise EHS specialists, coordinators, or other safety personnel.
