About The Position

Manages the technical aspects of all entertainment rigging and staging as it applies to entertainment productions and venue maintenance to ensure safety, show quality and a positive guest experience. This role oversees a high-risk function for rigging & staging for Entertainment Tech programs – events, venues and marquee events. The role has responsibility for Team Members, to include scheduling, time cards, performance evaluations, training and onboarding and safety compliance. The role has responsibility for department budget and adherence to company policies.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school required
  • 3-5 years’ experience within the professional entertainment or theme park industry required
  • Technical management and experience in live performance, entertainment, touring productions, business and theatre.
  • Also temporary and permanent audio, lighting, A/V and special effect installations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in related field preferred
  • 5-7 years in management or supervisory position preferred
  • Scenic, props and rigging experience preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the day to day rigging and staging technical planning, operation and quality assurance of all entertainment venues within Events, Entertainment Projects and Citywalk including the management of all employees in the rigging and staging discipline including staffing, interviewing and selecting candidates as well as monitoring all scheduling to ensure proper technical operation.
  • Responsible for maintaining all rigging truss, motors and equipment and ensuring their inspection and certification, as per EHS, OSHA and State standards.
  • Responsible for obtaining proper engineering for all entertainment temporary structures through external third party engineers and internal engineering department.
  • Responsible for overseeing the safe installation of all rigging and staging for entertainment, both entertainment structural (stage and overhead truss) and stunt rigging.
  • Responsible for becoming the Competent Person as it applies to scaffold installation, daily inspections and safety operation of the temporary scaffolding set ups.
  • Responsible for writing scopes and contracts for rigging/staging as it applies to entertainment offerings.
  • Responsible for basic CAD drawings & ground plans to support plan for rigging/staging as it applies to entertainment offerings.
  • Responsible for knowing load calculations of entertainment truss set-ups to instruct the other disciplines in their safe weight capacities and working loads.
  • Responsible for overseeing inventory control of all entertainment rigging/staging gear, both off property warehouse, as well as building 285A.
  • Responsible for the appropriate technical staffing of all rigging/staging positions within the assigned areas including interviewing and selecting candidates as well as monitoring all scheduling to ensure proper technical operation.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating necessary information which pertains to the rigging/staging operation to all affected parties inside and outside of the Entertainment Department.
  • Ensures that all Technical Entertainment employees within their assigned discipline attend all necessary mandatory training classes as well as plays an instrumental role in encouraging employees to take advantage of educational opportunities which will enhance and improve their job performance.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
