About The Position

Contributes to the overall success of Customer Insights, Data & Analytics (CID&A) in ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. The functions of a Manager, Data Governance is to review a data domain’s activities, support the overall data quality strategy and deployment of data quality capabilities, and provide expertise and advice to business areas across the Bank on the data management requirements and data risks associated with new initiatives while complying with Policy and Standards.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education: University degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience, preferably in a bank / financial institution
  • English / Spanish required

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of data governance leading practices
  • Strong knowledge of the Bank’s data policy and standards
  • Previous experience with using Jira and Confluence
  • Experienced with using complex Excel functions and Visio
  • Experience in data governance initiatives, policy and standards and providing guidance and support to data domains
  • Ability to exercise good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Project management skills in order to handle diverse projects, often simultaneously, and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to increase operating efficiency and produce high quality technical solutions
  • A high level of interpersonal, verbal and presentation skills necessary to relate to other people

Responsibilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank’s relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Actively contributes to enhancements of the Bank’s data management program to ensure alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite, regulatory requirements and business opportunities.
  • As a part of the Enterprise Data Governance team, review intakes/ data initiatives/DQ and DQIM initiatives submitted by business domains to ensure data components of the project are understood and the project team is aware of their data management requirements prior to business casing and implementation of initiatives.
  • Support Chief Data Office (CDO) in establishing DQ and DQIM initiatives.
  • Serves as a liaison between key stakeholders and the business line Chief Data Office teams for data governance activities, follow ups and action plans to ensure that data related business requirements clearly defined, communicated, and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning
  • Act as a subject matter expert and support data governance tools by managing business requirements, represent the Data Office in the sprints and conducting business acceptance testing as required
  • Provide training/consultation and guidance of the data governance process and tooling to data domains
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
