About The Position

HCT seeks an experienced nursing leader to serve as the Interim Manager of Emergency Department at a critical access hospital in North Dakota. This role involves providing leadership and oversight for the Emergency Department and Emergency/Trauma service line, including managing the ER, Trauma, and Stroke programs. The manager will focus on quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and performance improvement initiatives, as well as managing the APP schedule for the Emergency Department and other assigned areas. Key responsibilities include leading staffing, recruitment, scheduling, employee development, performance management, and accountability. The role also entails conducting incident reviews, root cause analyses, and implementing corrective actions and process improvements. Additionally, the manager will develop and maintain departmental competencies, orientation programs, policies, procedures, and training resources. This position serves as a liaison between nursing staff, department leadership, and senior leadership, and represents the department in interdisciplinary meetings, collaborating with clinical and operational leaders. Direct patient care may be provided when needed to support the department during staffing shortages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
  • 1–3 years of Emergency Department experience required
  • Leadership experience required
  • Active Registered Nurse license required; compact license accepted
  • Current BLS required
  • ACLS, TNCC, and PALS required or must be obtained within the designated timeframe
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, staff development, and performance improvement skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and healthcare computer applications required

Responsibilities
