About The Position

Our safety team in Canada is evolving to meet the needs of our business and we are looking for a Manager, East - Canada Safety to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Director, Canada Safety, this position is responsible for leading and supporting the safety, emergency management and industrial hygiene program implementation within the energy. The position can be base in Bolton, Winnipeg, Les Cedres Compressor Station, or a facility within the operating area.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline of Health, Safety and Environment
  • Certification or accreditation with a safety board (CRSP, CSP or equivalent)
  • 10 years of experience in Health & Safety management
  • Proven knowledge of applicable provincial and federal legislation
  • Strong technical writing ability with demonstrated experience writing, developing and implementing work instructions, processes and procedures
  • Proven ability assessing safety programs and evaluating compliance gaps within the management systems
  • Successfully complete background screening, including a pre-hire medical and alcohol and drug testing
  • Have and maintain a valid Driver’s License and provide a current Driver’s Abstract for review

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in emergency management and industrial hygiene are considered an asset
  • 10 years’ leadership experience with delivering safety programs and leading safety personnel
  • Experience in pipeline operations and/or facility construction (i.e. meter station construction, pipeline maintenance, or construction programs)
  • Technical expertise in Safety, Emergency Management, and Industrial Hygiene
  • Excellent technical and report writing abilities
  • Bilingual, French and English and proficient both spoken and written

Responsibilities

  • Promote alignment to the Human and Organizational Performance principles across Canada Gas and Safety and Technical Services
  • Advance TC Energy’s implementation of the High Energy Based Safety program and supporting activities.
  • Provide leadership and support in implementation of applicable Management Systems standards and practices.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to an experienced team of Health and safety professionals in service of Corporate and Business unit objectives
  • Effectively promote a proactive, positive safety culture and successful delivery of the Safety Roadmap
  • Manage and provide overall safety, emergency management and industrial hygiene support to operations and support departments.
  • Provide technical expertise in regulatory compliance and assist with the required implementation plans to ensure compliance
  • Assume appropriate roles on the Incident Management Team in support of emergency events.
  • Provide support and guidance to Operations during serious incidents.
  • Analyze H&S related data and provide consolidated reports on H&S performance for the various clients, and provide regular safety communications to the department
  • Assist with the implementation and tracking of H&S corrective actions to address planned inspection, audit findings, and incident investigation results
  • Influence and participate in the development of occupational safety programs, policies, processes and procedures
  • Develop and maintain corporate safety specifications, standards and procedures
  • Roll out new or modified policies, processes or procedures
  • Keep abreast of emerging regulatory changes, industry trends and issues for the purpose of developing recommendations in response to changes to mitigate risk and informing findings to key stakeholders
  • Develop and manage operating budget for team
