Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Applied Math, Data Science, or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in energy trading, commodity markets, or commercial analytics
  • Minimum 2 years of direct people leadership or team management experience
  • Strong commercial judgment with the ability to translate complex data into actionable, trade-relevant recommendations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present market insights clearly to influence decisions at all levels
  • Collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced, global trading environment with a digital-first mindset and passion for innovation

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or MBA
  • Proficiency in Excel and at least one of Python/SQL; experience with visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Experience with advanced modeling platforms (Databricks, DataRobot, Dataiku)
  • Prior experience in a trading house, energy major, or commodity-focused analytics organization
  • Cross-commodity expertise spanning crude, products, natural gas, LNG, or shipping

Responsibilities

  • Inspire and lead a high-performing team of commercial analysts, setting clear expectations and cultivating a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and innovation
  • Drive strategic insight by overseeing analysis of market fundamentals, pricing structures, trade flows, and competitor activity to inform trading strategies and unlock commercial opportunities
  • Foster global collaboration by partnering with analysts and traders across Houston, San Ramon, Singapore, and London to align on arbitrage strategies, supply/demand modeling, and market positioning
  • Advance analytical capabilities by guiding the development and deployment of deterministic and dynamic models that identify and quantify trading opportunities across physical and financial markets
  • Champion digital innovation by promoting adoption of advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modeling, and AI to enhance trading performance and uncover untapped value
  • Embed risk intelligence by integrating quantitative risk management methodologies into trading decisions and exposure strategies
  • Promote continuous improvement by leading lookback reviews, evaluating forecast accuracy, and refining analytical approaches based on outcomes
