About The Position

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Manager, Digital Design to lead the ideation and implementation of design strategies for digital initiatives. This role focuses on driving growth, expansion, and innovation in digital capabilities and customer experience by embedding human-centered design into digital innovation and operational changes. The Manager will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conceptualize, test, and deliver innovative consumer-facing digital products and services, prioritizing user experience for acquiring and retaining healthcare consumers. Key responsibilities include translating business objectives into user-centered solutions, identifying opportunities, providing feedback on impacts, advising teams on creative direction for various digital and physical products, and directing the digital design cohort. The role also involves developing and championing human-centered design, design research, and strategic innovation practices, designing and guiding research to improve consumer experience, and bringing insights to life through various deliverables. The Manager will lead and support holistic design processes, facilitate co-design and design thinking workshops, foster best practices, develop materials to challenge the status quo, and create tools and processes for patient/consumer-first design. They will also support the team through guidance and direct participation in execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human computer interaction, experience design, service design, industrial design, graphic design, data science, cognitive science, psychology, or another relevant major required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a User Experience Research role, Strategic Design role, or relevant professional experience required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience with design, design strategy or innovation management, design thinking & execution with a deep understanding of front-end innovation practices required.

Responsibilities

  • Ideation and implementation of design with regard to digital strategy and execution to drive growth, expansion, and innovation of digital capabilities and customer experience.
  • Create strategies that communicate and embed human-centered design into digital innovation and related operational changes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to scope, design, concept test, and deliver innovative solutions for consumer-facing digital products and services.
  • Focus on user experience as a means of acquiring and retaining healthcare consumers.
  • Translate business objectives and user goals into meaningful solutions built upon user feedback.
  • Find and articulate areas of opportunity while also providing reverse feedback loops to help make quick assessments of impacts in order to pivot the approach.
  • Advise and support teams throughout the organization on creative direction to support the execution of a variety of creative work (e.g. mobile app, interactive web experience, physical products and services).
  • Direct the digital design cohort to concept, plan, and implement a variety of creative work (e.g. mobile app, interactive web experience, physical products and services).
  • Develop, lead, and champion human centered design, design research/synthesis, and strategic innovation practices within the design cohort of the Digital Implementations team and throughout the organization.
  • Design, develop and guide quantitative and qualitative research and contextual design investigations to reduce consumer frictions, challenge assumptions, and create a delightful experience.
  • Bring insights to life through personas, user journeys, mock-ups, service blueprinting, stories, and opportunities.
  • Lead/support the implementation of a holistic convergent and divergent design process for the conceptual development, design, and building of physical and digital services/products in partnership with collaborators, product managers, business strategists and engineering.
  • Design, plan, and facilitate co-design and design thinking workshops with collaborators and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Foster design best practices and innovative ways of working among members of the design team as well as with other operational and project/product cohorts.
  • Develop materials that synthesize insights, which can thoughtfully challenge the status quo via informed evaluation of consumer data.
  • Develop tools, processes, and ways of working that can be used across a variety of teams and support patient/consumer-first design.
  • Support the team across different types of projects by providing guidance and direction as well as participating in execution when necessary.
