About The Position

This position serves (for this function across all medical center sites) as a technical resource person and facilitates the guidance, on-going education and training of staff. Assists the System Director of Imaging to develop and monitor financial budgets. Assists in the development and enforcement of practices to meet all operational and regulatory laws and standards including HIPAA. Ensures compliance and provides interpretation of procedural intent as requested and/or required. This position will be responsible for the overall management of a specific modality grouping which includes recommendations on hiring, performance review counseling and disciplinary actions of staff. Under limited supervision, directs and supervises assigned personnel and daily activities to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. Assists the System Director of Imaging to gather data, monitor and assess departmental/service line performance and ensures established targets are achieved. Participates in process improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for being knowledgeable in all aspects of the service line and is competent to perform the tasks required by members of the team.

Requirements

  • ARRT - Reg Radiologic Technologist
  • Currently registered by an accredited organization. ARRT Registered in CT, MRI, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiography, or Sonography or ARDMS Sonography Must be registered by ARRT or ARDMS
  • NIMS IS 100 - NIMS IS 100 Introduction Incident Command System Required Equivalent Experience - Within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • NIMS IS 200 - NIMS IS 200 Basic Incident Command System Initial Response Required Equivalent Experience - Within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • NIMS IS 700 - NIMS IS 700 Introduction National Incident Mgt System Required Equivalent Experience - Within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • Associates Degree
  • Degree in Healthcare Related Field.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years supervisory experience required.
  • Currently registered by an accredited organization.
  • Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a group.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.
  • Knowledge of basic marketing techniques and financial analysis.
  • Written and interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
  • Employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for HR issues including coaching, counseling of employees, adherence to policies and procedures, education of staff on customer service skills to maintain consistency and high level of motivation. Responsible for completing JPRs on the team within areas of responsibility. Responsible for knowledge of Kronos in regards to schedules and approving time.
  • Responsible for participating in applicant screening and new employee hiring. Supervises, coordinates and participates in work activities for entire service line. Delegates responsibility and authority to appropriate individuals. Develops goals and objectives for personnel to assure continued growth and improvement.
  • Responsible for communications by keeping staff informed of changes and ensuring all areas of responsibility are functioning with same guidelines and processes. Coordinate policies and any changes with other departments. Organize staff meetings and assisting with presentations/speakers and distribution of minutes.
  • Development of new tests and procedures.
  • Monitors regulatory standards for imaging services. Maintains Joint Commission, ACR, NRC, and TAT standards and accreditation as applicable. Also responsible for Lead garment testing, Critical Test tracking, Radiation exposure reporting and Equipment physicist testing as applicable. Has oversight for the Radiation Safety Committee and Equipment state registration as applicable. Prepares for inspections and meets with regulatory surveyors. Promotes the development, analysis, and implementation of the performance improvement process.
  • Responsible for new projects initiated in response to regulations, needs and progress.
  • Assist with justifications of FTE and other requests, compile data, QIP/PI data to initiate or sustain business objectives.
  • Responsible for supply and equipment acquisition and any service level contracts associated with such purchases.
  • Responsible for the creation of teaching materials and methods to test the competency of staff.
  • Participates with medical or system committees and community events as appropriate.
  • Employees are required to take a Computer skills Assessment via the learning management system upon hire.
  • Based on the results of the assessment, an employee may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.
