About The Position

Related Digital is seeking a Manager, Design Engineering to own the full design lifecycle for hyperscale and AI-ready data center campuses, from project basis of design through construction document delivery. The manager partners with Development, Construction, Sales, Operations, hyperscale clients, and design teams to ensure designs are delivered on schedule and budget and meet Related Digital’s performance and sustainability standards.

The role leads multidisciplinary design delivery, coordinates external design consultants and client design reviews, supports cost control and constructability, and collaborates on site feasibility, master planning, and early-stage design decisions. It also integrates customer technical requirements into base building designs, supports design-to-build handoffs and field coordination, and develops repeatable design standards, templates, and specifications across markets.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in data center or mission-critical facility design.
• Technical knowledge of hyperscale data center systems, including MEP infrastructure, critical power, cooling (including high-density/liquid cooling), structural, civil, and architectural systems.
• Strong understanding of at least one discipline: Architectural/Structural, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical.
• Experience managing external design consultants across multiple disciplines and concurrent projects.
• Familiarity with LEED, Uptime Institute Tier standards, and applicable building codes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Dallas, Texas, or New York, New York.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own multidisciplinary design delivery, understanding the full design process and engaging discipline specialists as needed.
• Drive design-phase cost control through value engineering, constructability reviews, and close coordination with Preconstruction.
• Collaborate with Site Selection and Development on site feasibility, master planning, and early-stage design decisions.
• Liaise with hyperscale clients to understand, evaluate, and implement design changes; coordinate updates with the design team and escalate impacts to performance or the basis of design.
• Partner with Construction on design-to-build handoffs, RFI resolution, and field coordination.
• Integrate customer technical requirements into base building designs and serve as the design point of contact for hyperscale clients.
• Coordinate and manage design reviews and updates with the design team and hyperscale clients.
• Understand and evolve the basis of design with the full Engineering team for the Related Digital program.
• Develop and maintain design standards, templates, and specifications to enable repeatable, scalable delivery across markets.
