About The Position

Reporting to Director & Senior Manager – in the TDS Data Management Office, Manager– Data Management will be responsible for supporting the implementation of data management and related Data Retention & Disposition activities for TD Securities.

Requirements

  • University or post-graduate degree; professional data management designation would be considered an asset.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Data Management, Data Retention & Disposition, and Data Lifecycle Management.
  • Solid knowledge of implementing and leading data governance and data management practices, Enterprise Data Policy, Standards, and Strategy.
  • Solid knowledge of Capital Markets data strategy, data risk management, and data life cycle management
  • Knowledge of current and emerging competitors and market trends in Data Management
  • Skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject-matter expertise and execute Data Retention and Disposition activities, including defining and maintaining retention requirements (aligned to Enterprise Data Policy/Standards), mapping data sets to retention schedules, enabling retention metadata (e.g., classification, record category, retention period, disposition trigger), supporting legal hold processes, and coordinating disposition workflows (defensible deletion/archiving) with Technology, Risk, Legal/Compliance, and Records Management.
  • Ensures compliance with EDMO Standards by establishing and monitoring effective data governance processes.
  • Maintain knowledge of data management practices and procedures within modern data platforms and keep abreast of emerging trends within the functional area.
  • Help drive automation of data management practices, including metadata, data lineage, authoritative sources, data usage, and data quality rules.
  • Advise and consult on projects related to implementation of data management practices during system development (e.g., data impact analysis, quality controls, and data lineage).
  • Governs end‑to‑end data management practices to ensure data is accurate, complete, timely, and aligned to enterprise requirements.
  • Conduct internal and external research projects and support the development and delivery of presentations and communications to management and broader audiences.
  • Provides independent oversight, challenge, and escalation of data risks and control deficiencies to ensure effective risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate relevant processes, meetings, and events that impact the TDS Data Management practices.
  • Understand department objectives and contribute by recommending appropriate action to management based on analysis and review of results within assigned scope.
  • Oversees identification, escalation, and remediation of data issues, ensuring timely resolution and validation before closure.
  • Monitor service and productivity, assess efficiency levels within the function, and implement continuous process and performance improvements where opportunities exist.
  • Tracks, assesses, and reports on data governance performance and control effectiveness to support oversight and regulatory transparency.
  • Acquire and apply expertise in the discipline, and provide guidance, assistance, and direction to others.
  • Adhere to internal policies and procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements, and assess potential impacts.
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.
  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information, and all matters of confidentiality, and escalate issues where appropriate.
