About The Position

The Manager, Data Governance is responsible for leading the operational execution of Contexture’s enterprise data governance activities that support the organization’s data quality, standardization and interoperability objectives. This role partners across business, clinical, operational and technical teams to advance data governance practices, facilitate governance decision-making, support data quality improvement efforts and promote consistent use of enterprise data standards. The Manager is responsible for ongoing maintenance and evolution of the Contexture Gold Standard, refining and updating as critical standards evolve in the healthcare landscape and advising on application of those standards across Contexture’s solutions. The Manager serves as a subject matter expert in healthcare data, clinical workflows, and terminology services, providing guidance and consultation to support organizational goals and participant needs. The role is responsible for facilitating governance committees and stakeholder engagement, supporting enterprise data quality efforts, advancing data literacy initiatives and collaborating with teams to identify, prioritize and resolve data quality and data standardization challenges. In addition, the Manager provides leadership, coaching, performance management, workforce planning and professional development for assigned staff, ensuring alignment of team priorities with organizational objectives while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. This position is based in Phoenix Arizona; Denver Colorado; or Grand Junction, Colorado and requires local residency in one of these base locations. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.

Requirements

  • Expert understanding of hospital, ambulatory, and post-acute care operations.
  • Experience with clinical information systems and understanding of clinical workflow practices.
  • Skilled in the use of aggregated clinical data within a Health Information Exchange or Health Data Utility to support reporting, analytics, interoperability, data quality and customer needs.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data stewardship practices, data quality management principles, and healthcare data standards.
  • Understanding of enterprise identity management concepts, patient matching methodologies, and data integrity best practices within healthcare interoperability environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of healthcare terminology standards and code sets to include LOINC, SNOMED CT, ICD10, CPT, and RxNorm.
  • General, hands-on, and theoretical experience with HL7, CCD, FHIR and related interoperability standards.
  • Experience supporting data validation, quality assurance, and issue remediation activities involving large healthcare datasets.
  • Ability to facilitate governance forums, build consensus among diverse stakeholders, and promote adoption of governance standards and best practices.
  • Ability to communicate complex clinical, interoperability, governance and data quality concepts to technical, operational and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and achieve results through collaboration and influence.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience with healthcare data management, health informatics, healthcare analytics, interoperability, data governance or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience leading staff, governance initiatives, projects or cross functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification through organizations such as CPHQ, ANIA, HIMSS, CHIMMS, AMIA or other relevant healthcare, data governance, informatics or quality organization is preferred.
  • Experience participating in healthcare interoperability, data standards, terminology, governance, or industry workgroups is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead in the implementation of operational plans, performance goals and deliverables related to data standards, data governance, terminology services, standardized data products, and the Contexture Gold Standard.
  • Champion and communicate Contexture’s data governance priorities, standards and objectives while promoting adoption across business, clinical, operational and technical teams.
  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance, governance, documentation, and evolution of the Contexture Gold Standard, including business definitions, data standards, governance decisions, terminology mappings, and supporting metadata artifacts.
  • Lead and facilitate the Data Governance Committee and related governance forums by preparing agendas, documenting decisions, tracking action items, monitoring progress against governance objectives, and coordinating stakeholder follow-up activities.
  • Coordinate enterprise data steward activities, stewardship assignments, governance issue resolution efforts, and stewardship accountability processes to ensure effective implementation of governance decisions.
  • Represent Contexture on external industry, interoperability, data governance, and standards development committees, workgroups, and stakeholder forums; monitor emerging standards and leading practices; and communicate relevant impacts and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding and professional development for assigned staff while fostering a high performing and collaborative team environment.
  • Manage governance-related data quality operations, including issue intake, prioritization, remediation tracking, escalation, and resolution.
  • Maintain governance documentation, metadata standards, business definitions, and data dictionaries to support consistent interpretation and use of enterprise data assets.
  • Partner with technical and operational stakeholders to monitor identity management performance, review matching quality trends, evaluate governance-related data integrity concerns, and recommend operational improvements that enhance patient matching accuracy.
  • Lead governance-related data validation and quality assurance activities for reports, dashboards, analytics products, and data extracts, ensuring consistency with established business rules, data standards, and organizational requirements.
  • Manage terminology services data normalization activities, providing both strategic and operational guidance to ensure consistent use of healthcare data standards across Contexture’s solutions.
  • Develop and deliver governance reporting, data literacy programs, training, communications, operational metrics, and governance policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support decision-making and drive adoption of governance practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
