About The Position

We’re looking for a hands-on data engineering and database management professional to own the pricing data infrastructure for our Siding & Accessories division. This is not a business analyst role that touches data occasionally — this is a technical role that requires you to be in the database every day, writing queries, managing data pipelines, and ensuring the integrity of the systems that drive pricing across the organization. You will own the pricing database from day one. You’ll manage the existing SQL Server environment, lead data requirements for our PriceFx implementation, and eventually drive the migration of data transformation logic from the legacy database to Boomi — ultimately retiring the legacy platform. If you’ve managed a database, led a platform migration, and can write SQL in your sleep, this role is for you.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on SQL Server experience.
  • Experience managing and maintaining a production database.
  • Strong understanding of data flow and integration between systems.
  • Experience with data validation and quality assurance.
  • Independent problem-solving and operational ownership.
  • Experience with ETL tools or integration platforms (Boomi, Informatica, SSIS, or similar).
  • Experience with PriceFx or other pricing platforms.
  • Experience with ERP systems (JDE/JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle).
  • Experience leading or contributing to a platform migration — moving from a legacy system to a modern architecture.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or other BI tools for data visualization.
  • People management experience, even if informal (mentoring, leading projects, managing a small team)
  • Experience in manufacturing, building products, or B2B distribution industries.
  • Familiarity with Python, R, or other scripting languages for data automation.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Snowflake).

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the pricing SQL Server database — tables, views, stored procedures, data integrity, and performance.
  • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries daily. This is hands-on work, not oversight.
  • Manage the end-to-end data flow: source system (JDE) → pricing database → PriceFx.
  • Ensure data moves correctly, transformations are accurate, and outputs are validated before they reach stakeholders.
  • Monitor and respond to production incidents independently — database outages, file failures, data quality issues. You triage, engage the right teams, and communicate status. You don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do.
  • Own the data validation and quality assurance process. If data goes out wrong, it’s on you to catch it first.
  • Lead the data requirements for the PriceFx implementation — attend design sessions, answer data questions from the vendor, and own the data architecture decisions.
  • Document and reverse-engineer the existing transformation logic in the pricing database.
  • Lead the migration of that logic to Boomi (or similar ETL/integration platform), ensuring data quality is maintained through the transition.
  • Manage the eventual retirement of the legacy pricing database once the Boomi pipeline is validated and PriceFx is receiving clean data.
  • Serve as the data expert for the Pricing team — translate business needs into data requirements and explain data outputs in business terms.
  • Partner with the Pricing Director and stakeholders to ensure the data infrastructure supports pricing operations and business decisions.
  • Manage one direct report (Pricing Analyst) who maintains pricing data in the source system (JDE). Her work feeds your database — you need to understand what she does and ensure alignment.
  • Coordinate with the development team (.NET developers) during the transition period for legacy platform knowledge transfer.
