About The Position

SailPoint is seeking a Manager, Data Engineering & Analytics to own the architecture, delivery, and evolution of its enterprise data platform. This hybrid leadership and hands-on role manages a team of data engineers while remaining involved in data modeling, pipeline architecture, and business automation. The manager bridges business stakeholders and technical execution by scoping requirements, designing scalable solutions using Google BigQuery and dbt, orchestrating integrations through SnapLogic, and overseeing the Tableau environment. The role includes people leadership and Agile delivery, data architecture and engineering, platform administration and governance, and business partnership. The manager will guide the team's technical roadmap and delivery, maintain the data platform's reliability and security, and translate business needs into data solutions and actionable work. During the first 30 days, the manager is expected to integrate with the team, establish regular one-on-ones and twice-weekly stand-ups, take over sprint planning, map team workflows, and learn the technology stack. By 60 days, the manager will lead stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering and develop practical fluency with the tool stack. By 90 days, the manager will contribute to strategic direction and process improvements and own stakeholder relationships and project lifecycles from intake through delivery. The position offers a US base salary range of $104,500–$176,174.00. Compensation and benefits vary based on employment location and nature of employment. The role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or role-specific commission, and potentially equity participation.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or Enterprise Data Solutions.
At least 2 years of formal people management experience, or demonstrated experience leading engineering squads, sprint planning, and Jira backlog management.
Production-level experience designing, optimizing, and managing a cloud data warehouse; Google BigQuery or Snowflake preferred.
Advanced dbt experience, including architecting and deploying projects using macros, tests, incremental models, and documentation.
Hands-on experience building integrations using an enterprise iPaaS and third-party REST APIs.
Hands-on experience administering a modern BI platform; Tableau user management, data sources, and site administration preferred.
Ability to communicate technical trade-offs to non-technical business partners and document complex, end-to-end data workflows.
Strong ownership across the technical roadmap and the people delivering it.
Comfort working across platform architecture, integration engineering, and BI administration.
Good judgment about when to work hands-on and when to delegate, coach, and enable the team.
Collaborative, documentation-first mindset.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Python or another scripting language for data pipelines and automation.
Certifications such as dbt Certified Developer, GCP Professional Data Engineer, or Tableau Certified Administrator.
Background in data governance and security compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or GDPR, and data quality monitoring.
Experience integrating AI/LLM tools into data workflows, such as connecting platforms via Model Context Protocol (MCP) or using Claude/Gemini APIs for automation, documentation, or analytics.

Responsibilities

Manage and mentor data engineers through regular feedback, technical coaching, performance reviews, and career development support.
Own the team's Jira board and lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, task estimation, and delivery tracking.
Build a culture of technical excellence, accountability, clear documentation, and continuous learning.
Architect and maintain the dbt data transformation layer, with modular, tested, and well-documented data models.
Manage and optimize the Google BigQuery enterprise data warehouse, including performance tuning, cost management, and access controls.
Build and monitor ELT pipelines and automated workflows using SnapLogic and REST APIs to connect SaaS platforms and enterprise systems.
Design and run proof-of-concepts to evaluate emerging technologies and architectural enhancements.
Administer Tableau, including server and site governance, user permissions, licensing, performance monitoring, and content promotion.
Establish and champion best practices for data modeling, Git version control, CI/CD, and technical documentation.
Ensure data integrity, reliability, and security compliance across ingestion and reporting layers.
Partner with cross-functional business leaders to translate strategy into technical data roadmaps and actionable user stories.
Coordinate User Acceptance Testing and validate data deliverables with business partners.
Maintain SOPs and data dictionaries to promote organizational data literacy.
Lead stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering for incoming projects.
Contribute to strategic direction and process improvements, and own stakeholder relationships and project lifecycles from intake through delivery.
