About The Position

Under the direction of the Director, Data Services & Advanced Analytics, the Manager, Data Engineering & Administration, will oversee the design, development, optimization, and administration of the organization’s enterprise data architecture. This role is pivotal in building scalable and resilient data pipelines, managing both structured and unstructured data assets, and ensuring seamless data integration across business applications, analytics platforms, and operational systems. Leads initiatives to modernize the data infrastructure, implement best practices in data governance, and create high-performance data environments that support real-time decision-making, advanced analytics, and application interoperability. As a subject matter expert, they will strategically guide the use of data engineering and database technologies to ensure data is accurate, accessible, secure, and aligned with the organization’s business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Data Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field is required.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data architecture, database administration, and database technologies. This includes designing and implementing data pipelines, managing enterprise data platforms, and supporting analytics and business intelligence solutions required.
  • Minimum four (4) years of progressive leadership experience required.
  • Advanced understanding of relational database systems and database administration, including schema design, indexing strategies, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) systems for operational efficiency and OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) systems for analytical workloads.
  • Strong foundation in data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and enterprise data integration.
  • Extensive experience with ETL tools and frameworks, including the design and optimization of data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
  • Ability to build scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and application interoperability.
  • Advanced experience with Agile software development methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to analyze and document complex business processes, translating them into functional data requirements such as data flows, data mappings, and integration specifications.
  • Expertise in defining and documenting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and business metrics to support strategic decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience managing sensitive and confidential data with the highest level of discretion and integrity, while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  • Strong understanding of data governance and security practices, including access controls, data protection, and policy enforcement across enterprise systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience directly overseeing / mentoring technical teams such as data engineers and database administrators is preferred.
  • Experience in the Casino and/or Gaming industry is highly preferred, particularly in managing complex data environments, high-volume transactional systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Information Technology Service Management (ITSM), Project Management Professional (PMP) and other Information Technology (IT) Certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and leads the design and implementation of scalable application databases, data pipelines, data models, and integration frameworks to support enterprise applications, analytics platforms, and reporting systems.
  • Manages and conducts in-depth analysis of data sources and systems to ensure data quality, consistency, and readiness for consumption across business units.
  • Collaborates with business and technical teams, including Managers, Directors, application owners, and executive leadership, to gather requirements and align data architecture and processes with organizational goals.
  • Mentors and guides database administrators to ensure best practices are being utilized for data architecture, engineering, administration, and governance.
  • Manages and facilitates the complex data engineering necessary for actionable insights and recommendations, presenting results to senior leadership and stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
  • Manages and maintains technical documentation, including data flow diagrams, architecture models, and proof-of-concept (POC) solutions to support system design and communication.
  • Facilitates User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for data-driven applications and integrations, ensuring alignment with business requirements and performance standards.
  • Manages and leads the development and deployment of enterprise wide data platforms and services, driving key initiatives that enhance data accessibility, performance, and reliability.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.
