About The Position

The Manager, Credit Risk Strategy role is responsible for creating/amending credit risk strategies, monitoring strategy performance, supporting business line initiatives, and recommending resolutions for customer escalations related to the Credit Card and Line of Credit portfolios under Retail Unsecured Lending. These objectives aim to support effective risk management and optimize risk-adjusted returns for Canadian Banking within Global Risk Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business or a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Sciences, Math, or Engineering.
  • 2–4 years of experience in an analytical role performing statistical analysis or modeling; exposure to credit risk management or the financial services sector is an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of SAS and Big query tools for data extract and transform.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain portfolio performance.
  • Growth mindset with intellectual curiosity, proactiveness, and a passion for continuous learning.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with teammates to solve problems, proactively address emerging risks, and anticipate client needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with other programming languages such as SQL, Python and R is an asset.
  • Understanding of predictive modelling techniques, particularly categorical models such as decision trees. Experience developing models in SAS or other predictive modelling software is an asset.
  • Experience with TSYS and TRIAD account management systems is an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of Power BI or other visualization tools is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance and produce reporting to monitor portfolio performance, ensuring alignment with the credit risk appetite.
  • Identify emerging risks, performance deterioration, or unusual trends and escalate insights with clear, data-driven commentary.
  • Produce ad-hoc analyses and deep dives to support management reviews, governance forums, and regulatory requests.
  • Develop and implement account management strategies for unsecured retail credit portfolios under Retail Lending to optimize balance and risk-adjusted revenue in support business objectives.
  • Support to develop, implement and optimize collections risk segment strategies for early-stage delinquency for unsecured lending portfolios.
  • Leverage Champion/Challenger capabilities, incorporate non-traditional data, and other innovations to continuously improve existing strategies.
  • Use data mining skills to design and execute portfolio segmentation for optimizing risk-return.
  • Collaborate with the Business to ensure account management strategies are developed using best practices, including decision science and data-driven strategy.
  • Work closely with the collections operations team to support and advance collections initiatives.
  • Ensure business strategies across customer lifecycle management are consistent with the Risk Appetite Framework.
  • Work effectively with internal stakeholders, including Business and Technology partners, to support the identification, development, implementation, and monitoring of strategies.
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit and model validation team to validate performance of existing account management credit risk strategies and remediate as required.
  • Collaborate with 2B function to provide data on account management, collection and origination strategies. Analyzing life cycle strategies for audit purposes.
  • Provide timely support on account management escalations.
