Manager Corporate Technology (Security & IT)

Caribou FinancialChicago, IL
$171,000 - $214,000Remote

About The Position

Caribou is seeking a Manager of Corporate Technology (Security & IT) to own the company's security and IT programs. This role requires a leader who can guide a senior security team, manage the SaaS and AI tools portfolio, and build enablement programs to maximize productivity. The ideal candidate will have experience in both security (incident response, GRC, compliance) and IT (SaaS portfolio management, digital workplace leadership). You will be responsible for setting the direction, strategy, and vendor relationships for security and IT programs, fostering a collaborative partnership with employees rather than a policing function. This role reports directly to the CTO and is designed for a leader looking to evolve the function and grow their career within a rapidly scaling company.

Requirements

  • Delivered a SOC 2 Type II audit as the primary owner.
  • Managed a detection and response function: SIEM tuning, EDR deployment, incident ownership.
  • Built or maintained GRC policy and control documentation that held up under audit scrutiny.
  • Worked in a regulated environment and understand how compliance obligations translate into operational controls.
  • Managed security vendor relationships (EDR, CSPM, penetration testing firms) and can assess vendor performance.
  • Run a SaaS portfolio for a growing company, including licensing, governance, adoption, and addressing shadow IT.
  • Led an enterprise-wide software rollout end-to-end: implementation, adoption, and proof of value.
  • Researched, planned, or executed a rollout of enterprise AI tools.
  • Run identity and access management end-to-end, including provisioning workflows and audit evidence.
  • Managed an MSP relationship and held them accountable to a service standard.
  • Translate technical risk into business language without losing precision.
  • Sequence work effectively, knowing what to do first when everything feels urgent.
  • Build programs collaboratively with the people executing them.
  • Treat security and IT as a service to the rest of the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience deploying AI tools or low-code agent platforms to non-technical employees.
  • EDR/CSPM platform experience.
  • GLBA Safeguards Rule or NYDFS familiarity.
  • Fintech or financial services background.
  • Consulting backgrounds.
  • Career changers.
  • Candidates without four-year degrees.

Responsibilities

  • Own Caribou’s security and IT programs.
  • Set the direction, hold the strategy, and manage vendor relationships for security and IT programs.
  • Keep security and IT programs advancing.
  • Manage a team of three senior security practitioners and a senior IT administrator.
  • Advance Caribou's security posture year over year with a clear roadmap and smooth diligence reviews.
  • Ensure SOC 2 Type II audit delivery with systematic evidence collection.
  • Improve detection and response capabilities, ensuring SIEM, CrowdStrike, Wiz, and DLP are operationally sound.
  • Ensure GRC policy and control documents reflect current operations.
  • Ensure licensed tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, Asana, 1Password, and Adobe are actively used.
  • Develop an operational AI enablement program driving measurable adoption of licensed AI capabilities and a growing backlog of automated workflows.
  • Ensure IT operations run smoothly with responsive support and minimal productivity loss from tech issues.
  • Develop growth plans for direct reports, provide regular coaching, and assign increasingly complex work.
  • Ensure the security and IT vendor portfolio delivers expected value and can be demonstrated.
  • Manage people through the full lifecycle: hiring, developing, delivering feedback, and making decisions about performance.
  • Translate technical risk into business language.
  • Sequence work effectively, prioritizing tasks when everything feels urgent.
  • Build programs collaboratively with the people executing them.
  • Treat security and IT as a service to the rest of the company.
