About The Position

The Manager, Security (Armed) serves as the primary armed security officer on duty at the Lifepoint Health corporate office and supports the Vice President, Risk and Security in managing security, safety, emergency preparedness, and related risk mitigation activities. This position maintains a visible security presence, protects employees, visitors, facilities, and assets, monitors and responds to incidents, and coordinates with local law enforcement and emergency responders as needed. Working across departments and with external partners, the Manager proactively identifies vulnerabilities and implements practical safeguards, processes, training, and response protocols designed to promote a safe, secure, and prepared workplace while avoiding unnecessary risk and disruption.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in armed security, law enforcement, military police, corporate security, protective services, or a closely related field required.
  • Current armed security license or registration, firearm permit, and any other credentials required by applicable law.
  • Must be maintained ACTIVE and in good standing.
  • You must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, emergency management, public safety, risk management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience serving as the lead or primary officer on duty in a corporate, healthcare, public-safety, or similarly complex environment preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification is preferred upon hire or must be obtained within the timeframe established by the organization (90 days).

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary armed security officer on duty for the corporate office, maintaining a professional, visible presence and providing timely assistance to employees, visitors, vendors, and leaders.
  • Conducts routine patrols and security inspections of the facility, grounds, parking areas, entrances, and other designated spaces to identify hazards, suspicious activity, policy violations, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Monitors access control, visitor management, surveillance, alarm, and other security systems; investigate alerts and take appropriate action consistently with established protocols.
  • Responds to security incidents, safety concerns, medical events, disturbances, threats, suspicious persons or packages, and other emergencies; assesses conditions, initiates protective actions, and requests additional resources when necessary.
  • Securely maintains and uses authorized defensive equipment, including a firearm, only in accordance with applicable law, organizational policy, training, and established use-of-force requirements.
  • Identifies and evaluates physical security, workplace violence, emergency preparedness, life-safety, and operational risks affecting the corporate office; recommends and helps implement appropriate preventive and corrective measures.
  • Supports the development, maintenance, testing, and continuous improvement of security procedures, emergency response plans, evacuation protocols, incident response processes, and business continuity safeguards.
  • Partners with Facilities, People Services, Legal, Compliance, Information Security, and other stakeholders to address security concerns and integrate risk-reduction practices into corporate office operations.
  • Provides security awareness guidance, briefings, drills, and training to employees and leaders, including expectations for reporting concerns and responding to emergencies.
  • Reviews incidents and trends, identifies recurring risks or control gaps, and recommends process, technology, training, or physical-security improvements.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with local law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, property management, contracted security providers, and other external partners.
  • Coordinates with law enforcement and emergency responders during incidents, investigations, special events, executive protection needs, or other situations requiring external support.
  • Prepares timely, accurate, and confidential incident reports, activity logs, risk assessments, and supporting documentation; preserves evidence and records in accordance with policy and legal requirements.
  • Supports investigations involving theft, threats, workplace violence, property damage, unauthorized access, or other security matters and promptly escalates significant concerns to appropriate leadership.
  • Provides security planning and on-site support for executive meetings, high-profile visitors, special events, and other activities that may require enhanced protective measures.
  • Maintains readiness of assigned equipment and supplies and completes required training, drills, certifications, and proficiency evaluations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support Risk Management and corporate office safety and security objectives.
