About The Position

The Manager, Corporate Accounting is a key leadership role within the Finance team, responsible for overseeing full-cycle corporate accounting, financial close, internal controls, and financial reporting processes in accordance with corporate policies. This role provides technical accounting expertise, people leadership, and process improvement leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality financial information for senior management and external stakeholders. Requirements

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience applying US GAAP or IFRS
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and quality.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting matters to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with a collaborative and hands-on management style.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with financial systems and reporting tools is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • CPA designation required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including corporate accounting and/or public accounting experience.
  • Prior experience reviewing work and mentoring junior staff preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee full-cycle corporate accounting activities, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, general and administrative expense analysis, and balance sheet analysis.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting to our parent company under established deadlines.
  • Review and/or prepare financial analyses for monthly management reporting, including key financial performance metrics.
  • Assist in providing technical accounting guidance on complex or non-routine transactions and ensure appropriate US GAAP treatment.
  • Lead the annual pension financial statement process, including the preparation of regulatory financial statements and related audit.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, including updating and maintaining documentation, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline financial workflows, reduce manual tasks, and improve efficiency and control.
  • Lead or participate in special projects and other related duties as assigned to support evolving business and financial needs.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of two corporate accountants, providing regular coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Review team deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to deadlines and corporate standards.
  • Support the corporate general and administrative forecasting process.
  • Work with the Tax department to prepare quarterly provision working papers.
  • Support interim and year-end internal and external audits, including preparing and reviewing supporting documentation, liaising with internal stakeholders, and communicating with auditors.
