About The Position

At Collins Aerospace, contracts are more than compliance documents — they are strategic tools that shape risk, enable mission execution, and protect the long-term health of our business. As a Manager, Contracts supporting our Propulsion Systems portfolio, you will operate at the center of high-visibility U.S. Government programs, partnering directly with DoD customers, Navy and Air Force stakeholders, and major prime contractors. This role goes beyond administration; you will influence proposal strategy, structure complex contractual frameworks, and guide leadership through nuanced FAR Part 15 risk decisions that directly impact program success and operational performance. You will serve as the primary contractual advisor across a portfolio of complex government programs — leading negotiations, shaping terms and conditions, and ensuring alignment between regulatory compliance, business objectives, and execution realities. Working cross-functionally with Program Management, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and senior leadership, you will proactively manage contractual risk, support high-value negotiations, and provide clear, confident guidance in a fast-paced defense environment. This is an opportunity for a seasoned contracts professional to own decisions, mentor others, and play a meaningful role in delivering mission-critical propulsion solutions to the warfighter.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with FAR Part 12 contracts is preferred
  • Prior contracts experience with DoD, NAVSUP, NAVSEA, USAF, or major aerospace/defense primes
  • Strong customer relationship and communication skills, with the ability to translate contractual concepts for non-contracts stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Program Management, Finance, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain

Responsibilities

  • Lead and shape proposal strategy for complex U.S. Government and prime contractor opportunities, advising senior leadership on contractual risk, pricing assumptions, and mitigation strategies prior to submission
  • Provide authoritative interpretation of FAR/DFARS and related regulations, establishing compliant contract structures and advising cross-functional teams on risk posture and business impact
  • Own development and negotiation of complex terms and conditions, including data rights, IP, limitation of liability, indemnification, termination, and change provisions, with authority to recommend business positions

  • Direct coordination of cross-functional inputs (Program, Finance, Supply Chain, Legal, Compliance, Security) to structure compliant, executable, and commercially sound agreements
  • Identify systemic contractual risks or process gaps and implement improvements to strengthen compliance, execution efficiency, and audit readiness
  • Exercise independent judgment in resolving complex contractual matters, escalating only when business risk exceeds delegated authority
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior Contracts professionals, contributing to development of organizational capability and best practices
