Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in Business or Life Sciences).
  • Proven experience with customer facing contract negotiations.
  • Highly developed negotiation, facilitation, problem solving, decision making and consensus building skills.
  • Ability to withstand pressure from customers and internal partners when following a course of action based on broader principles rather than immediate commercial need.
  • Experience in handling sophisticated contractual language.
  • Understanding the business and legal implications of various contract terms.
  • Ability to generate options or solutions to overcome objections during contract negotiations.
  • Ability to assess the needs of business and design and sustainable solutions.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Pharma Services Group (PSG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific by negotiating a variety of customer facing agreements globally.
  • Draft and negotiate both routine and non-routine contractual agreements, with complexity varying from moderate to complex.
  • Lead or participate in the contract negotiation process, negotiating contentious issues at multiple levels internally and with clients, while keeping risk exposure in mind.
  • Be accountable for the outcome of negotiations, ensuring conformity to business needs, accurate risk allocation, and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Interface efficiently with internal business partners and customers to influence and provide direction to guide the contracting process.
  • Generate options and solutions to break through impasses that work for all parties.
  • Continually strive to make the contracting process more efficient, effective, and customer centric.
  • Follow and help improve the tools used to ensure consistency in processes and ensure maximum situational awareness for all internal partners throughout the contract process to improve turnaround time for a growing client base.
  • Maintain and use the database within the contract management system of current and terminated contracts and coordinate processes to oversee contract flow and contractual obligations.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment with internal partners and sell the value of the contracting role to sales, finance, marketing, legal, quality, and site management/operations.
