This role is an incredible opportunity to become a key member of our Energy Services and Controls team in North & South Dakota. As an Area Contracting Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Energy Services and Controls business in the Dakotas Area, encompassing the major locations of Fargo, Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Bismark. You will manage all aspects of the business with direct responsibility for execution and targeted profitability while leading the team to accomplish specific objectives.

Requirements

5 years previous experience in Commercial HVAC systems and building automation systems, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience.
Experienced and knowledgeable in contracting processes associated with the installation of building automation systems and mechanical/HVAC projects preferred.
Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to partner with leadership to drive business results, implement forward-looking practices, and mitigate gaps. Identify efficiencies to improve strategy and planning. Proven track record of two initiatives which led to improved business performance.
Change Management: Competence to coach and lead the team through changes that impact both associates and the business. Experience in coaching and developing team members to adapt to change.
Communication: Proven experience in effectively communicating both upward and downward in various situations, including development, change management, conveying standard work, training, and conflict resolution to diverse audiences.
Customer Service: Minimum 3 years supporting the needs of the business by providing tools and resources in a customer service role. Offer leadership and problem resolution in escalated situations.
Leadership: Demonstrated expertise in leading direct reports and cross-functional teams in business activities, compliance, and process adherence, consistently achieving business results. Proven track record with at least three documented instances of success. Skilled in holding individuals accountable to ensure optimal performance and outcomes.
Planning: Expert in determining the appropriate type and number of resources required to complete tasks efficiently. Proactively plan for variations and contingencies. Proven experience in aligning business goals with team objectives.
Initiative: Minimum 2 years of identifying problems, challenges, gaps, or incorrect processes and provide solutions. This may relate to processes, people, and/or customers. As a leader, anticipate the needs and limitations of direct reports.
Interpersonal Skills: Interact positively and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Show a consistent ability to collaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Drive profitability in Contracting for the area and achieving specific Annual Operating Plan priorities.
Manage performance by monitoring contracting personnel effectiveness and efficiency in relation to customer service and operating plan goals.
Support the Area General Manager and Regional Contracting Leader in delivering business results and sharing vision.
Strong collaboration with other Business Streams & functional leaders for greater inter-departmental collaboration and cohesiveness.
Organizes and schedules all assigned personnel.
Identifies and prioritizes projects and plans jobs in detail.
Directly supervise the Energy Services and Controls fulfillment personnel assigned.
Functions as the primary interface between the customer, vendors, sub-contractors, and internal expertise within the sales organization and fulfillment organization.
Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and assigned staff.
Maintains and improves current customer relationships while seeking out other project development and sales opportunities.
Reviews and validates contracts and estimates by performing risk analysis and developing risk plans.
Confirms Trane's ability to meet the performance and financial requirements by obtaining and analyzing customer data, project data, and implementation issues prior to accepting the project.
Leads as a local operations safety professional to establish & maintain a work culture that makes safety priority #1.
Foster strong relationships across all departments, including sales, service, equipment, and leadership.
Enhance customer satisfaction by supporting company initiatives, building customer relationships, addressing concerns, and implementing corrective actions.
Lead the hiring and onboarding of new project administrators, ensuring a smooth transition and integration into the team.
