About The Position

Red Sun Farms is seeking candidates for the position of Manager, Compliance & Quality at their Kingsville Corporate Office. The Manager, Compliance & Quality provides strategic leadership for the development, governance, and continuous improvement of Red Sun Farms compliance, quality, food safety, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programs across Canada and the United States. This role establishes scalable frameworks, standards, and systems that ensure regulatory compliance, operational consistency, customer requirements, and alignment with the company's long-term strategic objectives. The Manager partners with executive and operational leaders to influence organizational change, drive continuous improvement, and strengthen a culture of quality, food safety, compliance, and accountability across all company locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field required
  • 5-7+ years experience in quality, compliance leadership, or a related field, with demonstrated expertise in cross-border compliance (Canada, US, and Mexico) and a deep understanding of ESG principles
  • Experience working with compliance and ESG platforms (e.g., SEDEX, ECIP LAB, CDP, Gigatron)
  • In-depth knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and related regulations, as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as PCQI, HACCP, SQF Practitioner, Lead Auditor, or other food safety, quality, or regulatory certifications are considered an asset
  • Practical experience with food safety requirements and implementation of food safety programs in preferred
  • Previous experience in the produce industry is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs in collaboration with teams across Canada, the United States, and Mexico to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, serving as a subject matter expert and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards.
  • Monitor compliance, quality, food safety, and social governance risks, ensuring identified gaps are documented, assigned, and addressed through timely corrective and preventive actions, with follow-up to verify effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and participate in internal and external audits, including customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, leading follow-up actions to address findings and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate safety training programs for Canada and the U.S., administering health and safety policies in accordance with corporate objectives and applicable legislation.
  • Identifying process gaps, implementing corrective and preventive actions to drive sustainable continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to proactively identify quality and food safety risks and opportunities, driving continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen operational performance and compliance.
  • Ensures ESG criteria are incorporated into the company’s operations, policies, and reporting, aligning with both regulatory frameworks and customer expectations for sustainable practices in all Distribution Centres and Dublin Virginia Greenhouse.
  • Support the development and implementation of ESG plans by establishing a unified, company-wide approach to sustainability goals and requirements.
  • Assess ESG goals and associated risks to develop timelines, strategies, and reporting structures that ensure compliance with regulatory and voluntary requirements.
  • Lead the planning, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of safety training and programs for Canada & US.
  • Promotes and reinforces superior safety culture initiatives throughout the company to ensure work is being completed safely while adhering to government standards and company policies.
  • Determine mandatory reporting requirements to meet relevant regulatory obligations, including federal, provincial, and state reporting, while proactively identifying opportunities to minimize risks and implement preventative measures.
  • Lead the development and implementation of company-wide compliance policies and procedures, ensuring they are unified, accessible, regularly updated, and aligned with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Implement systems and controls to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Maintain corporate document control standards for all policies, SOPs, and operational documents. This includes version control, document retention, archiving practices, and ensuring consistent application across all departments.
  • Support and oversee onboarding and contract compliance for growers, vendors, and carriers, including carrier agreements and sustainability information from logistics partners.
  • Coordinate with leadership, supply-chain, packaging, and operations teams to ensure all vendor agreements comply with organization policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor vendor performance through regular reviews and audits while building strong partnerships that promote ethical and sustainable practices.
  • Lead and develop a team culture of accountability, collaboration, trust, and innovation.
  • Partner with HR to support employee development, goal setting, performance management, and disciplinary processes while promoting accountability, consistency, and alignment with corporate policies and procedures.
