About The Position

The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works across the United States to address the unhealthy housing conditions in America’s lowest income communities. GHHI supports housing, environmental health, and energy efficiency services for families in communities around the country, as well as conducting direct services in Maryland and other GHHI sites. GHHI’s delivery model is based on its data-driven philosophy that public and private investments in social care and the social determinants of health are optimized and program outcomes are maximized when the energy, health and safety needs of an occupied home are addressed comprehensively, efficiently and simultaneously. GHHI Delivers: Government innovation in service delivery and cost savings Measurable improvements in health, economic and social outcomes for children and families Development of community-based green jobs and social enterprise Healthy, safe, stable, and affordable homes Increased family economic security including wealth retention and reduced family displacement Position Overview: Community Engagement and Education Manager - Roles and Responsibilities: We are currently seeking a Community Engagement and Education Manager for our Baltimore, Maryland office. The Community Engagement and Education Manager will play an integral role by providing outreach, community engagement and leadership for programs that serve communities including Baltimore City, surrounding counties and across the State of Maryland. The Manager will build relationships with community organizations and key stakeholders and solicit support from GHHI Communications and members of Maryland Program Services Department to lead Outreach and Education to unprecedented levels of impact and effectiveness for families in Maryland.

Requirements

Bachelors or advanced degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Communications/Marketing, Social Work, Health, or relevant field
3+/5+ years of experience in outreach and education or communications and working with diverse communities including low income communities of color
Cultural competency and strong interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues, clients and program partners of all demographic and professional levels
Experience in Environmental Health, Healthy Homes, Child Advocacy, or Public Health
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver information in a concise and understandable manner including strong presentation and training skills
Experience in grassroots advocacy and community organizing efforts
Strong social media skills
Ability to work nights or weekends as required
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel
Flexibility, initiative, and a collaborative spirit
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
Willingness to travel for meetings and conferences
Valid driver license and reliable automobile with state required insurance for job duties including travel to in-person outreach events, presentations and meetings

Responsibilities

Responsible for all related outreach program grant and contract requirements including deliverables, reporting, data collection, and performance monitoring.
Oversee and be responsible for the creation and implementation of plans for all major outreach events including but not limited to annual Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, Healthy Homes Month, and Maryland Asthma Summit.
Annually, develop, implement, and continuously evaluate community engagement strategies that align with organizational priorities, grant objectives, and measurable program outcomes.
Build and maintain strong relationships and effective communication with key external stakeholders including state agency officials, statewide partners, local health departments, health care partners, and local community organizations and leaders.
Responsible for annually developing new community and stakeholder partners to expand GHHI’s networks and reach statewide including partners among others: healthcare, housing and energy providers, schools, government and community organization stakeholders.
Manage subcontractor contracts, manage goals and expectations, meet with essential staff on a quarterly basis, provide training and updated materials.
Plan and organize outreach events in specific target areas such as: Prince George’s County, Western Maryland & the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Recruit partners and conduct bi-monthly Maryland Partnership meetings.
Manage staff including the Community Engagement and Education Coordinator where applicable.
Conduct monthly internal outreach program meetings and report on deliverables and goals.
Participate in monthly Maryland Department of Health (MDH) and other state and local agency grant/contract meetings to report on progress on contract deliverables.
Organize, attend in-person and facilitate outreach events, trainings, presentations, webinars and advisory committee meetings with parents, agencies, partners and community-based organizations.
Prepare and maintain a GHHI Outreach Calendar of Events of all current and upcoming events and trainings that is shared monthly with GHHI leadership, Maryland Programs Department staff and Communications Department staff.
Maintain an Events calendar on GHHI website of key events, webinars and trainings.
Maintain Outreach and Education Program standard operating procedures manual.
Oversee development and maintenance of the directory of all community partners and health organizations.
Create new and updated marketing, outreach and training materials for Maryland Programs to include a GHHI newsletter, and lead poisoning, asthma, healthy homes and program marketing pamphlets and other related educational materials.
Provide content for regular social media, Constant Contact and other postings.
Create and update Power Point presentations for training, webinars and presentations.
Draft quarterly blogs that highlight major outreach events and awareness topics, i.e. lead week, asthma month, healthy homes month, etc.
Maintain a standardized outreach toolkit, including presentations, educational materials, talking points, and event resources to ensure consistent messaging across programs and staff.
Review and revise rental property owners, contractor, homeowners, tenants and resident education materials.
Ongoing organization and inventory of all collateral on at least a monthly basis; manage process for monitoring and quality control.
Order outreach materials and manage budgets to maintain adequate supplies in advance of events and in adherence with all budgets, purchase ordering processes and financial internal controls.
Responsible for community engagement to reach partnering organizations and clients directly in at risk, target communities in Maryland as directed by GHHI contracts and grants as well as outreach goals and strategic plan.
Produce effective engagement that includes increasing awareness and results in measurable client applicants and enrollment of clients in GHHI, local and state housing intervention, health, and energy services programs.
Utilize and expand technology tools such as GHHI’s Client self-referral QR Codes and other effective client marketing and enrollment for GHHI services
Develop and maintain new and existing relationships with community-based and grass roots organizations and leaders.
Represent GHHI at statewide coalitions, advisory committees, conferences, and partner meetings while serving as a subject matter expert on community engagement, healthy homes, asthma, lead poisoning prevention, and related public health initiatives.
Develop tracking methodology for all event attendees, which includes sign-in sheets and data entry into Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) Database for reporting and referral to GHHI or other community resources.
Assure proper data collection and ETO database data entry in adherence with program requirements for reporting and evaluation.
Prepare, review and submit all Outreach and Education and related grant and contract reports.
Collaborate with the Data and Evaluation Coordinator to restructure ETO Outreach data touchpoints for greater impact measurement (education knowledge gain, services received), functionality, new program reporting and ease of reporting as needed.
Other duties as assigned related to organizational mission and programs.
