About The Position

The Manager, Club Technology International works closely with internal and external engineering and product teams to deliver innovative technology solutions that enrich member experiences and drive meaningful engagement. This role leads cross-functional and matrixed teams across multiple programs and disciplines using Agile techniques. The position manages relationships across the technology portfolio and oversees the overall architecture for club management solutions and associated technologies. The role’s primary goal is to deliver reliable, extensible, and secure solutions for Planet Fitness franchisees and Club locations. As an integral member of the club technology team, this position partners closely with business stakeholders, franchisees, global market teams, technical leadership, and delivery teams to identify, solve, and operationalize technology needs across international markets while supporting ongoing compliance with industry best practices. This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires regular, in-person work at our Hampton, NH office. Our hybrid model is M/T/W in office and TH/F are optional work-from-home. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations. Fully remote work is not available for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience, required
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex, concurrent, cross-department technical programs, including roadmap development, business communications, and cross-program coordination
  • Demonstrated experience with POS, BOH, and payment terminal technologies
  • Demonstrated experience releasing field technology solutions across a large number of distributed locations
  • Experience managing program budgets, reputational risks, and business risks across the organization, IT, and the corporate entity
  • Demonstrates expertise in business requirements development, program and project management, issue resolution, risk mitigation, and communication
  • Understands enterprise data solutions and technologies, application development and maintenance, system integrations, service-oriented architecture applications, software testing, and network architecture
  • Comfortable indirectly leading and influencing resources while directly owning tasks and troubleshooting issues as needed
  • Comfortable performing a range of functions, including project management, product management, business systems analysis, and process improvement
  • Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of experience managing international systems development projects with multiple vendors and international stakeholders preferred
  • Previous experience in international retail or consumer technology environments preferred
  • Previous experience managing technology vendor relationships preferred
  • Experience working in a franchisor/franchisee environment preferred
  • Creative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Possesses cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity, with experience in international business negotiation and relationship building

Responsibilities

  • Drives continuous improvement of club management software and related solutions by leading internal and vendor technical experts through the design, development, and expansion of business solutions supporting club technology, including international growth initiatives.
  • Serves as the application subject matter expert for assigned systems.
  • Ensures projects adhere to sound Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles and documents SDLC compliance when required by policy.
  • Promotes visibility into the technical program backlog and ensures the technical program team remains focused on strategic priorities.
  • Drives continuous improvement across a team of international and vendor technical experts in the design, development, and expansion of business solutions surrounding club technology, with a primary focus on international expansion.
  • Ensures that technology standards are understood and incorporated efficiently into an evolving international business model.
  • Manages the program schedule and coordinates with headquarters, vendors, and franchisee teams to ensure integrations, dependencies, and business priorities are reflected in the enterprise release schedule.
  • Partners closely with operations to ensure in-club needs are understood and represented in the product roadmap.
  • Drives strategic alignment across business units to achieve company-wide goals.
  • Ensures transparency in all project communications and manages escalation of scope change requests for review.
  • Ensures effective stakeholder identification and engagement during all project phases.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for escalations to senior management at Planet Fitness.
  • Builds strong working relationships across the organization and with external partners, including vendors, franchisees, and international market stakeholders, to solve and operationalize technology needs at scale.
  • Designs and implements in-club technology solutions that enhance member experiences, improve profitability, and simplify operations.
  • Provides thoughtful leadership and direction for assigned programs while applying continuous improvement best practices throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Assumes accountability for the successful delivery of critical business systems development projects within approved budgets and timelines.
  • Manages risks, budgets, and dependencies within projects and across departments and technical programs.
  • Instills a shared sense of urgency, accountability, and ownership within project teams to achieve goals.
