Position Overview ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assures ongoing evaluations of clinical education curriculum. Collaborates with leadership to ensure adequate educational support. Develops and manages the Department of Clinical Education and Diabetes Education budget. Manages a staff of clinical educators and support staff. Plans for the development of expert teachers. Based on needs assessments, plans and implements ongoing professional education for clinical staff. Supports the education of non clinical staff as needed. Manages and maintains partnerships with outside organizations such as the Consortium for New Jersey Nurse Educators and academic partners Manages clinical affiliations with colleges and universities as Capital Health provides educational opportunities to both CH staff and non-employed students. Manages the clinical education curriculum for clinical staff development at Capital Health including annual educational needs assessments and educational planning to meet those needs. Manages the Approved Provider Unit including keeping accurate files and submission of required reports as needed. Serves as the primary nurse planner for the APU. Participates in meeting organizational and clinical goals for improving quality of care and makes recommendations and decisions regarding educational issues that arise. Plans and manages clinical staff on-boarding, preceptor programs, competency trainings, professional development and internship/externship programs. Participates in the development of CH clinical policies and procedures related to patient care and current evidence based clinical research. Works collaboratively with regulatory and compliance to meet educational requirements. Works with department leadership in reviewing employee files for survey readiness. Supports the development and revision of patient education materials. Manages the operations of both the inpatient and outpatient diabetes education programs. Supports measures to maintain ADA accreditation of the outpatient diabetes program. Supports operations of the nurse residency and mentorship program in maintaining accreditation standards. Serves as the program director for the PTAP accreditation of the nurse residency and program mentorship. Supports the development and maintenance of the safety enhancement training program. All other duties as assigned.
