About The Position

The Manager, Client Policy is a mid-senior leadership role responsible for overseeing consultative client policy services and managing the Client Policy team within their region. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert on proxy voting policy, a trusted point of contact for key client relationships, and a hands-on people leader committed to developing a high-performing regional team. The Manager, Client Policy sits within a global client policy function and works in close partnership with the Client Policy leadership team, as well as cross-functional teams across Client Services, Research, Operations, and Commercial. This role requires someone who can balance day-to-day team management and client delivery with a broader awareness of how the regional function contributes to the firm's global policy strategy.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in proxy voting, corporate governance, or a related field within the institutional investment or financial services industry
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing a team, with a track record of building capability and fostering professional growth
  • Strong knowledge of proxy voting policy across a range of markets, proposal types, and governance frameworks
  • Proven client-facing skills with the ability to manage complex relationships and navigate escalations with confidence and professionalism
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Analytical and data-informed approach to problem solving and decision making
  • Effective communicator across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with JIRA, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerBI
  • A collaborative, empathetic leadership style with a genuine commitment to team and client success
  • Bachelor's degree required

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a regional team of Client Policy Analysts, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and career development support, maintaining documentation to inform annual performance reviews
  • Deliver regular training to ensure analysts are proficient in conducting annual guideline reviews, preparing client-facing materials, and leading client meetings independently
  • Maintain and build team knowledge of key governance trends, market nuances, and evolving corporate governance topics across relevant markets
  • Set clear performance expectations and serve as an initial escalation point for team questions and challenges, engaging the Client Policy leadership team as appropriate
  • Serve as a regional subject matter expert on proxy voting policy, with strong knowledge across a broad range of proposal types, markets, and governance frameworks
  • Oversee the accurate and timely delivery of client policy services, ensuring alignment with client intent and Glass Lewis's operational and quality standards
  • Own the quality of all client-facing deliverables produced by the regional team, maintaining a consistently high standard of output
  • Stay current on governance trends, regulatory developments, and market-specific nuances, sharing insights across the team and with clients as appropriate
  • Provide management-level support to key client relationships within the region, serving as a senior point of contact for policy-related matters and escalations
  • Engage proactively with clients to assess satisfaction, identify emerging needs, and reinforce Glass Lewis's position as a trusted governance partner
  • Measure and monitor client satisfaction through surveys, regular touchpoints, and other tools, using insights to drive continuous improvement
  • Navigate client escalations with professionalism and sound judgment, resolving issues efficiently and escalating to the VP of Client Policy where appropriate
  • Act as a liaison between the Client Policy and Commercial teams, contributing to prospect demonstrations, RFP responses, and Sales team meetings
  • Provide actionable insights on current client relationships, including opportunities to expand or deepen services within the regional book of business
  • Partner with the broader leadership team to identify opportunities for new products, services, or enhancements to the policy offering
  • Track and report on key performance indicators for the regional team, surfacing insights and trends to inform decision-making at the leadership level
  • Maintain a working knowledge of policy operations, core Glass Lewis products and services, and general proxy voting mechanics to support both team development and client conversations
