About The Position

The Manager of Classified IT/Applications is responsible for leading, coordinating and providing daily work direction for a team of system administrators supporting several small to large sized dynamic research and development environments. The position facilitates and oversees supporting the day-to-day activities of users, performing system maintenance and upkeep of Information Technology and the design, development, documentation and deployment of IT solutions. The position will have responsibilities to manage the support of IT technologies that cover a wide array of competencies such as data administration, knowledge management, customer service, technical support, network services, system administration and systems security analysis. Additionally, will be responsible for building business relationships with internal customers, mentoring team members and technically leading IT projects related to implementing new technology solutions to address business challenges. This role is located on site in Cambridge, MA and requires an Active Top Secret Clearance.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of security technologies and architecture, encryption, network security, firewall configuration, intrusion detection.
  • Able to implement DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides or other defined configuration requirements.
  • Expert with Windows operating systems, including Linux.
  • Ability to research technologies, errors, and products to determine best path forward.
  • Ability to provide off hour/on call support as needed.
  • Ability to be flexible with schedule is needed as some work (planned/unplanned) must be done outside of major production hours during prescheduled maintenance windows.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of professionals.
  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Security+ certification or higher professional certifications in accordance with DoD 8570.01 M, IAT Level II and IAM Level II preferred.
  • 5-7 years of managing a team and systems administration or networking administration experience and expertise with at least 3 of the following technologies: LDAP, Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, Veeam (or equivalent), Nessus, or Splunk.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance.
  • Current in scope Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of classified and unclassified team and program related activities.
  • Provide oversight and performance management of the team and proactive resource allocation.
  • Ensure proactive scheduling of program needs and scheduled maintenance of systems to meet RMF accreditation guidelines and project timelines.
  • Provide strategic and proactive measures to ensure that supported environments are “future proofed”; including automation, economy of scale, and resource allocation.
  • Establish and maintain a strong relationship with Draper’s Information Assurance teams to ensure coordinated efforts for new and ongoing program compliance.
  • Guide the development and execution of systems to evaluate compliance with specifications and requirements by applying principles and methods for cost effective planning, evaluating, verifying, and validating of technical, functional, and performance characteristics (including interoperability) of systems or elements of systems incorporating IT.
  • Manage team resources during configuration, testing, operating, maintenance, and management of networks and firewalls.
  • Work closely with ISSM (Information Security) group to ensure system accreditation process is followed including maintenance of standard operating procedures, network drawings and configuration documentation.
  • Lead team to conduct the integration/testing, operations, and maintenance of systems security.
  • Administers processes and tools that enable the organization to identify, document, and access intellectual capital and information content.
  • Address complex problems, installs, configures, troubleshoots, and provides maintenance and training in response to customer requirements or inquiries (e.g., tiered level customer support).
  • Develop project plans, architecture diagrams, requirement documentation, test plans, change requests, and communication to users.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
