About The Position

The CDS Electrical Controls (EC) Hardware (H/W) Product Center is seeking to build critical expertise in the design, development, validation, and production support of Full Authority Digital Electronic Controls (FADEC), sensors, effectors, harnesses, electrical subsystems, and other electrical components. The EC Product Center Manager needs to have a strong systems and project background, as well as deep technical and analytical knowledge of the key discriminators in the down-select and technical development of highly accurate and reliable electrical control and sensing systems. The EC Product Center Manager also needs to have a security clearance to provide support for the development of competitive new electrical control systems for sixth-generation military applications. Finally, the EC Product Center Manager must be well-respected in this area of expertise to maintain and further develop a good working relationship with our Collins Power and Controls FADEC and Electrical Systems provider. CDS is seeking an Associate Director, Electrical Controls Hardware Product Center, a.k.a. EC H/W Product Center (PC) Manager, to lead a critical subdiscipline group within the CSEE organization. CSEE engineers architect, design, and develop game-changing control systems that implement the control subsystems and hardware necessary to achieve customer and business value as defined by our products’ engine performance, fuel consumption, operability, noise, emissions, and time on wing; and through unmatched customer support, all in an environmentally responsible manner. They also work across all CDS subdisciplines to help achieve program objectives of the CDS CIPT. EC H/W PC engineers work the entire system life cycle from 1) control system technology development, 2) interpreting customer requirements, decomposing them to hardware and software, 3) technical and project oversight of hardware implementation, to 4) ensuring control system compliance across engine, flight, and customer compliance testing, and finally, 5) leading system and hardware field issue triage and resolution. EC H/W PC engineers work collaboratively with industry partners, including key suppliers and customers, in a team environment, to advance the technology readiness level of emerging electrical and electronic systems and components. EC H/W PC engineers support the concept design definition, system integration, prototype testing, and product detail design development, certification, and validation, both for systems and components. EC H/W PC engineers support technical proposals, cost estimates, concept trade-off analysis, and modeling, in support of advanced electrical and electronic subsystem projects.
