Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in management/administration in a case management setting
  • 5 years of experience in acute nursing in emergency, intensive care, and/or medical-surgical acute care; pediatrics preferred
  • 3 years of experience in utilization management, case management, discharge planning and quality improvement
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective decision-making /problem-solving skills, demonstration of creativity in problem-solving, influential leadership skill
  • Demonstrated effective critical thinking skills and ability to anticipate patient discharge needs
  • Moderate to expert computer skills
  • Working knowledge of the financial aspects of third-party payors and reimbursement
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Nursing Education
  • Professional Nursing Certification deemed by department required upon one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates fiscal accountability by assisting in budget preparations/monthly analysis of budget performance and complying with budgetary guidelines.
  • Collaborates with medical staff and all levels of hospital personnel to ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care incorporating age-related and departmental-specific guidelines.
  • Promotes autonomy and accountability by fostering an environment for staff to collaborate in effective problem-solving at unit and nursing service level.
  • Demonstrates competencies in case management and utilization review.
  • Facilitates effective use of hospital resources through coordination of long stay review and other capacity management processes.
  • Develops and maintains networking skills with clinical managers and directors to advance the patient care coordination process.
  • Develops staff performance expectations, metrics, and goals and holds self and staff accountable to achieving.
  • Establishes and communicates performance and behavioral standards and follows appropriate disciplinary courses of action when counseling staff.
  • Identifies and maintains relationships with other departments, e.g., Utilization Management, Managed Care, Patient Accounting, Patient Access, and medical staff to facilitate the care coordination process and provide continuity of care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
  • Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
  • Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.
