About the Position As a key leader within Kenco’s brokerage transportation group and across its various service lines, the Manager – Carrier Account Management will drive market engagement, oversee carrier capacity expansion activities, and achieve defined capacity and procurement targets. This role is a critical component of our capacity team, focusing on mentoring, training, and empowering a high-performing carrier account management team to exceed their goals. The Manager – Carrier Account Management plays a vital role in driving growth, shaping the carrier experience, affinity, and advancing the company’s underlying capacity strategies that underpins our customer needs in the transportation brokerage space.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field required, or equivalent years of experience required.
  • 5 years of experience in logistics and/or supply chain management required.
  • 5 years of experience in carrier/account/solutions management of third-party logistics, with a focus on transportation solutions preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop a team of professionals toward revenue and market share goal attainment.
  • Proficiency with proposal, presentation, project management and financial analysis is required – including expertise with all Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
  • Experience managing complex negotiations, collaborating with legal teams on agreements, and setting up comprehensive service contracts with financial acumen.
  • Effective problem solver and decision maker with a strong capability to assess workload and prioritize tasks.
  • Self-motivated with an eye for detail and ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to lead meetings and make presentations to executive-level stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the 3PL competitive landscape, as well as all domestic modes of transportation and leading service providers.
  • Must be passionate and able to effectively persuade and influence others.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience in carrier/account/solutions management of third-party logistics, with a focus on transportation solutions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support a Carrier Account Management team in actively sourcing new carriers by leveraging existing and forming new relationships within the existing carrier portfolio, including new lanes, equipment types, and services.
  • Monitor Carrier Account Management productivity, key performance metrics, and use data-driven insights to refine sourcing and procurement approaches as needed.
  • Advocate and clear roadblocks by collaborating with pricing, commercial, and administrative support teams to successfully lead the Carrier Account Management team through internal processes to aid in winning new business.
  • Play an integral role in the feedback loop with leadership on carrier procurement costs, budgeting, market conditions, trends and competitors.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the Carrier Account Management team in resolving challenges efficiently, ensuring accurate and timely service execution.
  • Present Kenco’s capabilities to current and potential carriers, including C-suite executives, while promoting a carrier-centric approach to foster exceptional service, affinity for Kenco, and long-term relationships.
  • Continuously assess processes and capacity sourcing approaches to improve efficiency, streamline processes, boost relationships, and execute business within market expectations of cost.
