About The Position

This role is for a Manager of Budget Planning and Analysis at Golden 1 Credit Union. The position requires a strategic finance leader who can translate complex financial data into actionable insights for executive decision-making. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, forward-thinking, and possesses strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and performance management within a financial institution. The role involves leading and developing the annual budget, multi-year financial plans, and periodic forecasts, while partnering with executive leadership to align financial strategies with organizational priorities. The position emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and driving continuous improvement in processes, systems, and reporting to enhance organizational effectiveness, transparency, and scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, budgeting, or related financial management roles, with demonstrated enterprise-level impact required
  • Prior leadership experience required

  • CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead, and develop Golden 1’s annual budget, multi-year Financial Plan, and periodic forecasts.
  • Oversee all enterprise financial planning activities, partnering with executive leadership to align financial strategies with organizational priorities, strategic initiatives, human capital management, and strategic goal achievement.
  • Design and develop financial planning and analysis models at both the departmental and enterprise level, incorporating key drivers such as loans, deposits, interest rates, economic conditions, and other internal and external factors, enabling scenario analysis and strategic decision support.
  • Lead and coordinate the enterprise-wide financial planning and budget development process, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and delivering comprehensive executive reporting packages, KPI dashboards, and financial presentations that support organizational decision-making.
  • Design and deliver monthly financial reporting packages that provide clear, forward-looking insights into financial performance, operational efficiency, and key business drivers, supporting executive-level evaluation and action.
  • Apply advanced technical accounting knowledge to ensure financial plans, forecasts, and analyses are aligned with GAAP and regulatory requirements, translating accounting impacts into accurate, forward-looking financial projections and strategic insights.
  • Analyze financial information including income, expenses, loans, deposits, and balance sheet trends to ensure alignment with financial plans and forecasts. Identify, investigate, and communicate key variances and underlying drivers, providing actionable recommendations to optimize performance.
  • Evaluate financial and operational trends across the organization to optimize resource allocation, improve cost discipline, and enhance overall financial performance.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to executive leadership and business units, leading financial discussions, influencing decision-making, and ensuring alignment of financial outcomes with enterprise strategy.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Strategy and the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) to ensure the Financial Plan reflects enterprise initiatives, strategic priorities, and execution timelines.
  • Support and oversee Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) analysis and reporting, incorporating credit risk insights into financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Evaluate peer credit union performance and industry benchmarks to provide context for financial results and support strategic decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement and transformation of financial planning, forecasting, and reporting processes to enhance accuracy, speed, transparency, and organizational value.
  • Lead the administration and enhancement of budgeting and financial planning systems, identifying and implementing process and technology improvements to support scalable, data-driven decision-making.
  • Establish and implement enterprise-wide financial planning policies, procedures, and reporting frameworks that promote consistency, transparency, and accountability.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of accounting, financial, regulatory, and economic conditions, incorporating these insights into financial planning, forecasting, and performance management.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements, internal controls, and risk management practices, integrating these considerations into financial planning processes.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Budget Planning & Analysis team, establishing performance expectations, driving accountability, and supporting professional development to build a high-performing team.

  • Participate in enterprise initiatives, providing financial leadership and analytical support to cross-functional efforts.
