About The Position

The Human Resource & Medical Department at BNSF Railway is dedicated to recruiting top talent, fostering employee development, and ensuring the health and well-being of employees. This full-time position reports to the General Director of Retirement & Financial Benefits and is based in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, employees can work one day per week remotely. This role oversees BNSF’s employee relocation program as its primary area of responsibility, along with one union pension plan, three international retirement plans, and the employee stock purchase plan. The position is accountable for direct administration of certain programs and for overseeing vendor-supported administration for others through strong internal and external partnerships, effective communications, and sound compliance practices. Travel is minimal, based on business needs. Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Requirements

  • Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in human resources or a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, and data analysis.
  • Intermediate project management skills.
  • Experience working with databases or data systems, including the ability to navigate and review information.
  • Willingness to develop subject-matter expertise in the BNSF relocation program and BNSF retirement plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience in vendor management or project management.
  • Two years of experience managing relocations, real-estate, or related experience.
  • Two years of experience with benefit plan (any type) strategy, including exposure to program design, operational decision-making, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong project management experience or formal training.
  • Basic understanding of: ERISA, and DOL Form 5500 filings or similar compliance filings.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships for the following programs and plans: Relocation program strategy and administration vendor, supporting a smooth and positive transition experience for relocating employees, Pension administration vendors for one union pension plan and three international retirement plans, ensuring high-quality service for employees and pensioners, Employee Stock Purchase Plan vendor, supporting effective administration and a positive participant experience for current and former employees, QDRO and POA vendors, delivering accurate and timely processing of qualified domestic relations orders and power of attorney documents.
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders—often at the AVP level—across multiple BNSF departments in support of the relocation program and the other plans and programs within this role’s scope, including HR, Treasury, Accounting, Tax, Labor Relations, and other functional areas, as applicable.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities related to administrative processes and operational practices with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and participant experience.
  • Research, investigate, and resolve complex issues, escalating or partnering as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and manage the completion of required annual compliance filings for the programs and plans administered within this role, working closely with internal and external partners.
  • Lead and support the coordination and development of communications related to the programs and plans within the scope of this role, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with plan provisions and company policy.
  • Manage vendor agreements, including contract oversight, performance monitoring, issue resolution, and invoice review.
  • Provide back-up support, as needed, for similar administrative work related to the 401(k) and other pension plans managed outside this role’s primary scope.
  • Other duties as assigned.
