About The Position

Sentara Health is hiring for a Manager, Behavioral Health Care Management – PHP/IOP at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA. This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours) with standard working hours of 8am to 5pm EST, Monday-Friday, with evening shift as needed/back-up. This is an onsite position. The Manager, Behavioral Health Service Delivery provides operational leadership for behavioral health programs and practices across the Southeast market, with an initial focus on Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services. This position is responsible for the daily management and performance of assigned behavioral health practices while also supporting the development, implementation, and operationalization of new behavioral health programs and locations. As services expand, the Manager will provide oversight across multiple PHP/IOP practices and ensure consistent operations, quality, regulatory compliance, patient access, staffing, and financial performance across the market. The Manager works closely with Enterprise Behavioral Health leadership, physicians, clinical leaders, hospital and ambulatory operations, finance, revenue cycle, compliance, and other partners to create a coordinated and sustainable behavioral health service delivery model.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Healthcare Administration, or a related clinical discipline. (Required)
• Five years clinical experience in behavioral health. (Required)
• One year’s experience in a supervisory or lead role. (Required)

Responsibilities

• Provides operational leadership and oversight for assigned behavioral health programs and practices, including PHP and IOP services.
• Oversees multiple behavioral health locations as programs expand across the Southeast market, ensuring consistent operational standards and performance.
• Leads or supports the development and implementation of new PHP/IOP practices, including operational planning, staffing, workflows, readiness, and transition to ongoing operations.
• Manages day-to-day practice operations, including staffing, scheduling, patient flow, clinical support processes, resource utilization, and operational problem solving.
• Partners with clinical leadership to coordinate interdisciplinary care delivery, therapeutic programming, caseload distribution, and patient scheduling.
• Develops and monitors operational, access, productivity, quality, financial, and patient experience metrics and implements corrective actions when performance does not meet expectations.
• Ensures effective patient access and financial clearance processes, including coordination of insurance authorization, eligibility, scheduling, and revenue-cycle workflows.
• Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, licensing, safety, documentation, and organizational requirements.
• Recruits, develops, and manages staff; establishes performance expectations; promotes accountability; and supports staff competency and professional development.
• Standardizes workflows, policies, procedures, and operating practices across behavioral health locations to support consistent service delivery.
• Collaborates with hospital, ambulatory, Enterprise Behavioral Health, Health Plan, and community partners to improve transitions of care and access to behavioral health services.
• Supports annual planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and business performance for assigned programs.
• Identifies operational barriers, capacity constraints, and opportunities for program growth and develops solutions in partnership with behavioral health leadership.
• Serves as an operational escalation point for assigned programs and provides leadership during periods of significant operational change or program expansion.
