Requirements

  • BS minimum in System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar and 10 years of engineering experience in the automotive industry OR MS minimum in System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar and 8 years of engineering experience in the automotive industry.
  • More than 10 years of automotive experience at OEM or Tier 1/2 ADAS/AD suppliers.
  • At least 8 years of experience in developing & testing hardware/software systems related to ADAS or AD automotive features for mass production, involving longitudinal and lateral driving control.
  • Understanding of automotive processes and workflows.
  • Experience in leading & mentoring a team of highly skilled engineers for automotive testing & validation activities.
  • Strong experience in development and execution of validation test plans for ADAS/AD driving features.
  • Close collaboration with system engineering, software development, and feature owner (product) teams.
  • Experience debugging, testing, benchmarking, calibrating, and bringing up complex driving features.
  • Expertise in ADAS testing/validation tools & methods such as Vector (CANoe, CANape, CAPL), PeakCAN, DGPS, test benches, and/or HILs.
  • Very strong understanding of CAN and Ethernet.
  • Programming skills for integration, testing, automation, and results post-processing (e.g., Python, C/C++, MatLab/Simulink).
  • Capability and creativity to successfully complete projects with unconventional ideas in highly constrained, innovative startup environments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) & ownership mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in validating highly automated features such as highway pilot, urban pilot, FSD with point to point navigation.
  • Proficiency with agile development tools and environments (Jira, Jama, …), and issue resolution systems (such as JIRA).
  • Strong understanding of automotive regulations (FMVSS, NITSA, GSR, NCAP) with test execution experience.
  • Strong understanding of automotive functional safety standards (ISO 26262), SOTIF etc.
  • Experience with test automation, with Diagnostics and UDS protocol.
  • Experience with HIL, SIL or system (vehicle) simulation.
  • Broad experience with various ADAS/AD systems, including mechanical, electrical and software components.
  • Experience with project management, supplier management, team management and/or executing tasks in cross-functional team setup.
  • Experience managing fleet of vehicles for on-road testing & validation, scenario testing to confirm SOTIF coverage etc.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, motivate, and lead a team of validation engineers responsible for testing and releasing hardware/software components for ADAS/AD driving functions (e.g., ACC, Highway Assist, Lane Centering, LCA, ALC, TSR, Highway Pilot, Urban Pilot, L2++ autonomy).
  • Contribute to system architecture development and validation tests at component and vehicle levels, ensuring timely delivery of validated, high-quality customer features.
  • Develop and execute test and validation plans for feature functional and performance requirements, regulations, testing coverage, SOTIF confirmation, data analysis, and root-cause investigation, ensuring traceability.
  • Align with cross-functional teams (Infotainment, functional safety, powertrain, cybersecurity, homologation, ADAS/AD system & software development, feature owners, program managers) on validation activities and project execution.
  • Lead driving feature benchmarking, calibration, and establish post-processing methods for vehicle data analysis.
  • Leverage state-of-the-art processes and tools for requirements, test plans, field tests, data transfer, and analysis; lead the development/adoption of new processes and tools.
  • Mentor and support the team in developing test automation using industry tools like CAPL scripting.
  • Work closely with Tier 1 suppliers, manage statements of work and contracts, provide execution oversight, and represent the ADAS validation team.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to implement innovative solutions for vehicle testing and calibration, optimizing system test and validation strategies for efficiency, cost, and quality.
  • Travel as necessary to execute driving and safety feature validation tests at proving grounds and perform detailed data analysis.
  • Assist in defining and building the fleet of prototype and series production vehicles for ADAS/AD feature validation, field operation testing, mileage accumulation, and data collection.
  • Explore simulation, HIL, SIL, and vehicle test approaches to optimize subsystem test, validation, and calibration strategies.
  • Work closely with component owners (Radars, Cameras, Lidar) for ADAS/AD driving functions and contribute to component requirement development.
  • Investigate root causes of component or system-level failures and support the resolution of issue tickets.
