About The Position

The Manager, as a leader and member of the Senior's Care Program, is responsible and accountable for the operational, clinical, and strategic leadership of the Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) Unit, Transitional Care Unit, and Behaviour Support Team. The Manager provides leadership to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care, promote best practices, and ensure effective transitions for patients with complex care needs. The Manager fosters a culture of quality, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement while supporting staff, physicians, and interprofessional teams in the delivery of evidence-informed care. Working collaboratively with patients, families, staff, physicians, and internal and external partners, the Manager contributes to integrated care planning, patient flow, and service excellence across the continuum of care. The successful candidate will demonstrate operational effectiveness and a commitment to leading quality improvement and transformation across the three units within an interprofessional environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Current registration and membership in good standing with a Regulated Health Profession required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in related clinical and administrative settings, including leading large interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in seniors' care, transitional care, behavioural support, rehabilitation, geriatric medicine, or other complex care environments.
  • Understanding of best practices in the care of older adults, including dementia, delirium, responsive behaviours, frailty, and complex discharge planning.
  • Proven ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and build strong internal and external partnerships.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, team-building, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Sound understanding of RHPA legislation, collective agreements, systems thinking, quality improvement methodologies, and evidence-informed practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead operational and clinical change, drive quality improvement initiatives, and improve clinical practice and care delivery.
  • Strong patient- and family-centred focus, with demonstrated fiscal accountability and budget management experience.
  • Commitment to professional growth and development and the ability to thrive in complex, dynamic healthcare environments.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an expected requirement of this position.
  • Must be able to perform all necessary bona fide duties for the position, as outlined in the position guide.
  • Must review and be capable of performing duties as outlined in the Job Demands Analysis for the position as a condition of offer.
  • Proven ability to attend work regularly as per the Attendance Support Policy.

Responsibilities

  • This role is primarily responsible and accountable for the coordination and direction of all patient care-related activities within the area.
  • All nursing staff assigned to the clinical area report directly to the clinical manager regarding patient care and staff issues.
  • Provides an environment that supports and advances professional practice.
  • Leads the team in implementing evidence-based practices that are sensitive to limited resources within a patient-centred care philosophy.
  • The clinical manager will also lead the teams in coordinating follow-up safety incidents and liaise between professional/credentialed staff and hospital staff.
