About The Position

The Manager, Accounts Payable leads the Accounts Payable function, ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant payment operations while driving process improvements and automation. This role supports the institution’s financial operations by enhancing scalability, strengthening controls, and aligning AP processes with broader procurement and financial transformation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Must have at least 6-8 years of related accounts payable or related financial operations experience and must have strong supervisory skills with at least 3-5 years of experience managing staff.
  • Must have experience in budget management.
  • Must have audit, compliance, reconciliation, and reporting skills.
  • Experience working with enterprise financial systems (e.g., Workday or similar)
  • Strong understanding of AP operations, internal controls, and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and support operational change
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Accounts Payable function, overseeing end-to-end invoice processing, payment execution, expense management (including management of P-Card program), supplier onboarding, and supporting month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant operations.
  • Drive process strategy and operational efficiency, improving scalability, strengthening controls, and reducing manual effort across Accounts Payable workflows.
  • Lead Accounts Payable automation and system enablement, supporting implementation and optimization of tools such as invoice OCR, Expense Protect and Workday enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance, tax reporting, including appropriate withholding, issuance of required tax forms (e.g., 1099/1042), account reconciliations, and adherence to institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and develop Accounts Payable staff, aligning team structure and responsibilities to support operational excellence and ongoing transformation.
  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, and IT to support end-to-end procurement transformation and alignment with intake-to-payment
  • Responsible for maintaining proper security to protect confidential information & disposing of CFI in an appropriate manner (i.e. shredding/deleting electronic documents, etc.).
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
