Manager, Accounting

Procurify
$86,000 - $108,000Remote

About The Position

Procurify is seeking a talented and team-driven Manager of Accounting to join their AI-enhanced procurement and AP automation platform for the mid-market. This role is the operational core of the corporate accounting function, responsible for the month-end close, GL review, internal reporting package, and managing the corporate accounting team. It's a hands-on leadership position in a lean team where execution quality and cross-functional credibility are essential.

Requirements

  • CPA designation required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • At least 2 years in a people management role
  • Deep hands-on experience in both AP and AR operations
  • Proven track record owning month-end close in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP/ASPE and Canadian indirect tax (GST/HST, PST)
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or a comparable ERP
  • Maintains a professional and current LinkedIn profile, ensuring it is updated upon joining Procurify to reflect their new role and maintain a consistent company presence.

Nice To Haves

  • US state sales tax experience is an asset
  • Procurement or spend management platforms are a strong plus
  • Experience in the technology/SaaS industry is strongly preferred
  • Genuinely curious about AI in accounting — you're already experimenting, not just reading about it
  • Obsessed with process improvement; you see inefficiency as a problem to solve, not a reality to accept
  • A natural super user — you get into the details of systems, you find the workarounds, and you advocate for better
  • Execution-focused with strong organizational discipline
  • Strong communicator — comfortable translating accounting detail for non-finance audiences and influencing cross-functionally
  • Collaborative and low-ego — you partner well with product, ops, and finance leadership

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end AR operations, focusing on DSO reduction and cash flow predictability.
  • Manage the invoicing cycle for accuracy and timeliness, overseeing the collections process.
  • Drive operational discipline around AR aging, escalation thresholds, and write-off processes.
  • Identify and solve process gaps that lead to revenue leakage, delayed cash, or customer friction.
  • Own AR-related internal controls, credit policy compliance, and procedure documentation.
  • Own end-to-end AP operations, focusing on payment accuracy, vendor trust, and working capital discipline.
  • Manage the vendor payment cycle for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Drive operational discipline around AP aging, payment terms optimization, and exception management.
  • Identify and solve process gaps that lead to payment delays, duplicate spend, or vendor friction.
  • Own AP-related internal controls, procurement policy compliance, and procedure documentation.
  • Run all internal AP workflows end-to-end through Procurify and become the definitive internal expert on the platform's performance in a finance operation.
  • Document gaps, workarounds, and friction points encountered in daily use and translate them into structured, actionable feedback for the product team.
  • Participate actively in product discovery sessions, bringing a practitioner's perspective to roadmap planning and feature prioritization.
  • Maintain a recurring feedback cadence with the product team, providing proactive input on workflow design and usability.
  • Test new feature releases and beta initiatives to validate improvements and flag regressions.
  • Stay ahead of AI's transformation of AP and AR, proactively evaluating and piloting AI use within the accounting function.
  • Build a roadmap for AI automation to reduce manual effort without sacrificing control.
  • Act as an internal champion for AI adoption, educating the team, documenting outcomes, and scaling successful implementations.
  • Own the full month-end close, managing the close calendar, task sequencing, and cross-team coordination.
  • Own the AP and AR close sub-processes, including cutoff, accruals, reconciliations, and final sign-off.
  • Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and aging schedules.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for close execution issues.
  • Continuously improve close efficiency by reducing days-to-close through better sequencing, tooling, and upstream preparation.
  • Directly manage the corporate accounting team, setting goals, conducting reviews, and investing in professional development.
  • Foster a team culture of operational excellence, accountability, and a bias toward improvement.
  • Serve as the escalation point for AP, AR, and close execution issues.
  • Own the design, monitoring, and documentation of controls across AP, AR, and the broader accounting function.
  • Ensure GAAP/ASPE compliance across all accounting operations in coordination with the Director of Finance.
  • Support the Director of Finance with underlying schedules and commentary for internal reporting and audit preparation.
