About The Position

The Manager, Academic Programs and Strategic Projects provides advice and support to the Associate Dean, Academic (ADA), Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies (ADRGS), and the Dean, on matters related to the undergraduate learning experience and strategic projects across the College. This role aims to enhance the impact of programs and strategic projects on student outcomes, research outcomes, staff and faculty experiences, and the reputation of the College to outside partners. The College has five academic departments and approximately 130 faculty, with over 8000 undergraduate majors and over 360 graduate students. The Manager works in partnership with CSAHS Associate Deans, the Associate Director, Graduate Studies, Strategic Planning, & Program Innovation (ADGSSPPI), program committees, department curriculum committees, and undergraduate coordinators. This role is key in supporting and spearheading new initiatives and pilot projects aligned with the College's strategic plan. Activities focused on managing recent growth and increasing collaboration across disciplinary units will be particularly active.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in a related field (PhD degree preferred) with a minimum of 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed analytical, creative problem solving and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated management and administrative skills, as well as ability to negotiate and provide advice.
  • Ability to collect, manage and analyze quantitative and qualitative data from varied sources.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of diverse professionals including faculty and university staff.
  • Knowledge of Canadian undergraduate programs, especially in the social and applied human sciences, an understanding of teaching and learning principles, knowledge of undergraduate policies and degree regulations, including quality assurance processes.
  • Knowledge and/or lived experience of equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenization topics, especially as these relate to university teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Providing strategic advice to the Associate Dean Academic and departments regarding new and existing undergraduate programs, including program quality assessment and reporting, new program areas, learning outcomes and their measurement, and student recruitment and retention.
  • In collaboration with departments and programs, oversee the development and implementation of new curriculum initiatives, including international programs.
  • Managing and coordinating the procedures for curriculum proposals and quality review procedures. This includes the development of documentation for these processes and ensuring correctness and thoroughness of material provided by departments and programs.
  • Collecting, managing, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data from varied sources to inform development of implementation plans.
  • Oversight of the curriculum planning cycle for the College.
  • Developing and monitoring mechanisms for the measurement of progress on undergraduate strategic initiatives.
  • Providing leadership and support for the College’s Hub for Teaching and Learning Excellence Committee for implementing projects related to both graduate and undergraduate priorities.
