About The Position

Position responsible for managing Mental Health Court personnel, program activities, and caseload in Shelby County Mental Health Court. This role involves managing staff, overseeing data collection and reporting, building partnerships with various agencies, developing resources and transition plans for individuals with mental illness, and advocating for clients' rights.

Requirements

Five (5) years' experience in the mental health field which includes psychology, psychological field, clinical social work, mental health counseling, or a closely related field.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in sociology, social welfare, psychology, or closely related field; OR An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Knowledge of program and project management, including supervision and administration.
Thorough knowledge of the criminal justice system.
Thorough knowledge of mental health systems procedures and provider agencies to assist the mentally ill.
Ability to work with mental health professionals to develop transition plans for clients.
Ability to coordinate and direct activities of agencies associated with provision of services.
Ability to compile composite reports.
Ability to establish and maintain system of records.
Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations.
Ability to make presentations.
Ability to cooperate and work with other departments and service providers.
Ability to deal with clients, co-workers, and the public with courtesy and tact.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Subject to a background check for any convictions that have a substantial relationship to potential job duties.

Responsibilities

Manages, schedules, coordinates, and trains Mental Health Court staff under the direction of the Judge and Deputy Administrator.
Serves as the program’s Information/Data Manager and oversees data collection, entry, analysis, and reporting.
Builds partnerships with criminal justice agencies, community organizations, and mental health providers.
Develops and coordinates resources for adults with mental illness who are incarcerated or at risk of incarceration.
Identifies, screens, and assesses individuals with mental illness and coordinates continuity of care in jail.
Develops specialized programs and transition plans connecting clients to community services after release.
Collaborates with clients, families, and agencies to support recovery and reduce further justice-system involvement.
Creates individualized service plans, linkage plans, and follow-up services to promote successful community integration.
Advocates for clients’ rights and privacy and provides education and training on mental health and criminal justice needs.
Prepares client progress reports, supports TDMHSAS performance measures, attends required trainings, and manages special projects.
Performs other related duties as required or directed.
